Best Fish and Chips on the West Coast

Well, the best we've had in Northern California. As Cape Coders we know sea food and the 'Lobsta' Shack is spot on.. Add a very helpful and attentive staff and you've got one great experience. We've gone three times and each time been fully satisfied. Even on Mother's Day when seating was at a... read more

The seafood is usually pretty fresh and they have good take-out. The caveat is that $8 for a mug of clam chowder or $20+ for most entree's is a lot for take-out or sitting on not very comfortable benches. The service people are friendly.

A touch of New England in Portola Valley, in a shopping center, with simple wooden tables and outdoor or indoor seating. But, they fly in fresh lobsters, steamers, fried clams, and do a really presentable lobster roll... one could think they were in Maine.

We especially love the Lobster Shack in Portola Valley. The Acadian music flowing from the speakers, the picnic tables - well supplied with condiments, utensils and oyster crackers. You order inside and a waiter brings out your order. The LobstaH rolls are terrific - exactly what you have in Maine. But don't forget some of their other offerings: especially the... More

Decided to stop by to pick up clam chowder and lobster rolls for friends. The best "naked" lobster rolls outside of Maine, with New England style clam chowder. Staff is friendly, prices are decent. Highly recommend!

Surprisingly good for a New England style seafood joint located in a tiny strip mall in suburban/rural California. Very good clam chowder and excellent fired shrimp and chips. Lobster rolls are the big seller, but they also do great salads and whole lobsters. The company has other restaurants (3 or 4?) and they are pro's at both the lobster shack... More

This restaurant is located in a small shopping mall in Ladera, just west of 280. When you must have a lobster roll, this is *the* place to go. The menu includes lots of seafood dishes, which I've not sampled yet. The lobster roll always wins out. You can get the food to go, or enjoy it at one of the... More

Let me just say that I lived in Boston and spent many summers on Cape Cod. I'm a Fried Clam Fanatic, and for those of you in the know, that means, whole belly, Ipswich. Well, before finding the Old Port Lobster Shacks in Portola Valley and in Redwood City, I was forced to fly to Boston to satisfy my craving.... More

The Lobster Shack is in Portola Valley, California, about 2,700 miles from Maine. Nevertheless, they make a credible lobster roll that I really enjoyed. The Shack is also about 2 miles from the San Andreas Fault, which has the potential to make a meal at the shack very exciting. The only down site is that you pay Bay Area prices... More
