The Lobster Shack is in Portola Valley, California, about 2,700 miles from Maine. Nevertheless, they make a credible lobster roll that I really enjoyed. The Shack is also about 2 miles from the San Andreas Fault, which has the potential to make a meal at the shack very exciting. The only down site is that you pay Bay Area prices... More

Today we enjoyed a real Maine Lobster roll in Redwood City. The Old Port Lobster Shack will take you back to Maine without the 5 hour flight. From the ambiance to the table decor it's all there. The only thing missing is a view of the ocean. "Escape to a little piece of Maine at our casual New England style... More

This is good value for the money. You get lots of food and good BBQ quality taste. We didn't go for the lobster our first time but the pulled pork was a hit and the sauce was tasty. Worth a lunch trip.

I can hardly wait to speed out of SFO to the Old Port Lobster Shack! The Double Play Lobster Roll is a decadent pleasure, I get one Maine and one Naked. My husband loves the fish and chips. I wish they would branch out to Dallas. The food is not cheap but well worth every penny. Lots of sweet lobster on... More

A wonderful, funky place with superb lobster and lobster rolls. Very family and child oriented. Situated in a small, nice strip mall with indoor and outdoor seating at wooden tables. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Lobsters are fresh. Lobster rolls to die for. They also have good choices for kids. A fun place... More

The Lobster Shack has added a number of items to the menu which warranted another try. We have had the brisket of beef plate several times. It is really good - not New York deli really good - but it is very tasty. The Mac-n-Cheese that accompanies it is simply delicious. And be sure to order some of their cole-slaw... More

The portions are hot and tasty. Nothing remarkable about the recipe, but good for a quick lunch. The location is pleasant. There is no view, but you can sit outdoors and watch the families doing their shopping.

Does Portola Valley need a Lob-Stah shack? The food is good here, but for the same price you can have a nicer dining experience elsewhere. I paid $14.00 for Fish and Chips. I ordered at the counter and the kitchen server brought it to me at my little wooden table (Cape Cod style). The food was good, but I'm not... More

Lobster Shack has two locations, one on Veterans Boulevard in Redwood City and the newer one in Portola Valley. The latter is less crowded and more convenient for us, so we usually go there. The food and ambiance are identical. We were tipped off to Lobster Shack several years ago by friends from San Carlos. Both couples had lived in... More

We ate here with friends and family when we were visiting the Bay Area. We sat outside -- the restaurant is in a strip mall but kind of set back from the parking lot -- attractive plantings -- and a great place to bring kids. Our 4 year olds ran around and played with kids from neighboring tables. People even... More
