tasty food with great service

We arrived about 130pm after the typical lunch hour so we were seated immediately, salsa and chips brought to our table within minutes. Our waitress was super efficient and when I asked which enchilada I should order, her advice was spot on. My chile releno was sooooo good, as was the green salsa... read more

Everybody has their favorites, their reasons and personal tastes in Méxican food. The thing is if you've eaten throughout México as we have, from puestos to fine restaurants, it's tough to find somewhere worth going once you're back home. El Merendero is worth it. My wife says their beans taste like her grandmother's who lived in México City. Big compliment.... More

Yes, if you live or grew up in the Pomona area, more likely than not, you have eating at El Merendero. This is a wonderful Mexican Restaurant (with a take out window) and has what I would say as good a "TAKE OUT' for this food as you can get in the area. Family pkg is really a good deal... More

This is our favorite location to grab something to eat when we don't have food in the house or we just don't want to cook. Call ahead though or the wait is a little long. Most of the time we take it home. Occasionally we eat there outside with the dog.

Excellent salsa! Roasted tomato gives it a wonderfully unique flavor with medium kick and a fantastic aroma. Overall, pretty authentic Mexican food. Everything tastes good. Service can be slow, and the dining area is small. Bulk menudo to go on Sunday is real popular (BYO pot).

El Merendero is the best restaurant I've tried in a long time. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the menu varied. The decor is cute and the open kitchen makes it feel homey. It's wonderful, too, to stop by the bakery for their cheap, delicious baked goods. My only complaint is that it gets really crowded on the... More

Eat there about every other week. Good authentic Mexican food some of the best I have had north of the border. Prices are good and get a good amount for the money.

The food is good, breakfast, lunch or dinner. My favortie are the breakfast burritos. I love the fresh fruit fresca drinks on the counter for free taste, Cantelope, Watermelon and Pineapple. Each very refreshing. Also VERY good service.

The chips and salsa were so good, fresh chips and a tasty salsa with a kick. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was awesome. I will definitely be back.

Seating is casual with mostly long tables. The menu was varied, but we only tried the shrimp cocktail, tostadas and enchiladas which everyone enjoyed. If you haven't tried Mexican shrimp cocktail, I recommend it. The bakery is adjacent to the dining area and smells delicious! I bought several different breads and pastries, all were fresh and tasty. My Mexican friend... More
