The good: Friendly service, large portions, not terribly expensive The bad: not terribly great japanese food. Sashimi seems a bit expensive for what you got and the sushi more specifically the rice was not of the correct texture. I'm not some sushi snob but this was just ok if you just wanted to be full and I think most of... More

After eating here I was amazed that this restaurant was recommended as the best Japanese restaurant in Pleasanton. The reviews talk about how it is always full. Well, if you like low-grade fish prepared by untrained chefs, stuffed with cream cheese and mayonnaise and a lot of it for your land-fill feasting pleasure you'll be at the right place. It's... We've had some really good meals here- whenever we suggest Japanese food- SOZO is the first choice. We are a huge fan of the Bento box meals- especially the beef teriyaki with the Tempura and/or Gyoza. Parking is never a problem. And the service is always on point.

We stopped by with a party of 4 for a late-afternoon snack. Service was friendly and attentive. Miso soup was the best I have had in recent memory. Sushi was fresh and flavorful. I will be back to try for dinner.

They give you soup and beans free. Prices for a Saturday lunch is reasonable if not the lowest in town.

One a first time visit, arrived after the lunch rush so were seated immediately and served quickly. Sashimi was excellent. We also had the Firecracker Roll and the Raider Roll - both were fresh, delicious, and huge! This will now be our go-to sushi in Pleasanton.

Stopped here while staying in town and had a sub par experience, when we arrived we were told to pick a seat. Once seated it took over 15 minutes for someone to come give us menus and take the drink order. We were about to get up and then someone walked over and apologized. I ordered a spicy tuna roll... There's a number of sushi place in PTown, this is our choice. The staff is awesome and remember their regulars. The food is good and consistent. Parking is easy and the market is just next door. Very convenient location too. Gets busy to the point there's a line and a small wait but they are attentive and make sure they're... More

I was surprised when we walked in. This place was packed. The good was great and the price was just right. Great service. They do want you to eat and leave and the place is small and the tables need to be turned over for the next guest.

No pressure Sozo but you really are the best sushi place in town. I've tried many sushi restaurants in the tri valley area over the years and this place has consistently pleased me and every person I introduce to this place. Their sushi is always fresh. The cooked meals are delicious. The servers are always very efficient and pleasant. The... More
