I lived in Japan for a number of years and Tomo's is hands down the most authentic Japanese cuisine in the East Bay. Some reviews have rated the value at a 3 or 4, but the owners go through a lot of trouble to only sell highest quality food which is worth the price. There is not a bad dish... More

Looking for great japanese food? It must be TOMO. Kudos to Megan, the chef and owner. I can never go wrong with what we call "authentic jap.taste" .lived in japan for years. I come to a point where I crave for some jap.food, and I will never go elsewhere coz I always end up disappointed.

I am Japanese and I know what Japanese food tastes like. The fish was very fresh, the sake selection was fantastic, and service was wonderful. I would definitely come back!

During a very crowded "First Wednesday" street party, we were shocked and dismayed at being refused service by 3 downtown restaurants because it was 10 minutes past 9PM, the regular time the kitchens stop cooking. This is a ridiculous and outrageous way to run an establishment located smack in the center of a busy street fair. I'll name names at... More

It's a shame, because we really like the quality of their fish and their interesting sushi and appetizers, but my wife has a rice intollerance and they are unfortunately intollerant to making sushi without rice.

We dined at Tomo for the first time and loved it, don't know why it took us so long. We regularly enjoy sushi and there are plenty of Sushi restaurants in P-Town. What we noticed about Tomo was that it was smaller and the service seemed more personable. I have not yet been to Japan, but there was a distinctive... More

Without a doubt, this is the closest you can get to a real (and I mean non-Californiaized) Sushi restaurant in the east bay area. They have a lot of rolls, so everyone will definitely find something they like, even people who aren't crazy about fish. I have come here almost a dozen times and have always been extremely satisfied. Their... More

A great way to look at a Japanese restaurant is what people visit it. Try going to Tomo and you will always find Japanese customers there because the food taste like is does in Japan. Service is friendly and efficient. Food is delicious and always fresh.
