Rock out with Ribs

BB'Q ribs, chicken, etc. are what makes this place famous though they do offer a wide range of food. Watch out for the large portions. We had enough for another meal. Prices are also reasonable, especially for the Walnut Creek area.

We find the food here is very very good along with the service - - and we go here very often. We think their Pork Ribs are the best in the area. The large bar can get a little crowded - early. Drinks are great and at a very good price. Their Senior menu (called Lone Ranger) is priced 'right'... More

This place is unfortunately not a good restaurant. I was told to try their supposedly great sandwich of the day, their streak sandwich...It wasn't good at all, the cheese is generic as everything else, but if your a generic person you don't mind, right? ask the servers they don't seem to care, generic food served by generic servers who don't... We found the ribs and other so-called BBQ meats just barely average, but the scalloped potatoes were absolutely the best I have ever eaten. Service was average. Location convenient off the 680 north.

Came here thinking that we were in store for a good rib meal. Really, how had is it to mess up pork ribs. Well, they managed to do it. They were very tasteless with no seasoning. Sauce was boring and added nothing. Service was good. Atmosphere was good, but didn't make up for the lack of flavor. Cornbread was good.... More

Don't bother! Wasted calories! Only thing worth eating is the garlic mashed potatoes and the corn bread. Baby back ribs were boring. My ribs are sooooo much better. Perhaps I can give them lessons? Really DO NOT BOTHER, unless you want corn bread and garlic mashed.

I am not big not BBQ, specially Texas style, but was I surprised. This place has to be one of the best. I came here for lunch with a co- worker. I ordered the combo with has the Kobe rib and the Tri- tip. It was delicious. It also came a Salad and mixed vegetables. I love this place!

My wife and I have been going to Back Forty for many years, since before they moved to what we think of as their "new" location. Wonderful ribs and chicken, slow-cooked and near-falling off the bone, great salads, generous portions, attentive service and reasonable prices keep us coming back. Yes, they've raised their prices a bit over the years -... More

12/6/2014 I wanted a baked potato but they only serve them after 4:30pm so I tried the garlic mash potatoes. They were ok, hot and had the skin included....$4.59 for a pint. They are located across from the hotel we are staying.you don't have to go through the entire restaurant for your carry-out. The carry-out area was nice and clean... More

Hadn't been to Back Forty since the move to new location few years ago. Was pleasantly surprised. Quality is good, selection large enough to please everyone. Service was good and prices average. Has a bit of a chain restaurant feel to it. Nothing that I would say was extraordinary but no complaints. Overall positive and love the take out options.
