So many barbecue places have good meat but poor quality side dishes. Not the case here. Adequate size portions and well smoked meats. I liked the sauces but not well enough to haul one home. Great service from our server.

I had the turkey and my wife had the lean brisket. Both were moist and delicious, the smoky flavor of the brisket was to die for. We also had the beer battered shrimp appetizer. Six large prawns cooked to absolute perfection. Don't miss this place if you're in the Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill area.

First time here. This will be a must stop when I come down here. Food was very good and plenty of leftovers. You could share a dish there was so much food. Very good quality meats.

We had the pork ribs, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, and bread pudding for a quick take-out meal and it was all very good and satisfying. The defining difference between BBQ places is the sauce and Back Forty's BBQ sauce is pretty sweet but also spicy giving their meat a good combination of flavors. The bread pudding is light and fluffy,... More

I came here after asking the front desk at the Embassy Suites a good place to eat within walking distance. This was the first place them mentioned so I went. I sat down at the bar and was served quickly with my order of Whiskey and Diet. I asked for the house brand which I saw was Early Times Whiskey... More

Very nice casual dinner at the Back Forty Texas BBQ in Pleasant Hill. I started with a Bombay Sapphire Gin Extra Dry Martini (very well made), and had their Combo Dinner, with Beef Rib, Pork Ribs, Chicken, Mac and Cheese, and Cole Slaw. The honey corn bread and butter was delicious as well. The dinner was very good and the... More

The salads and the Caesar dressing is truly good as is their bread and corn bread with honey butter or regular butter. I know from what my Aunt used to say that if thesis as taste good they are taking good... More
