We stopped in after the annual tree lighting ceremony (so did half the town) and it was worth the wait. The burgers were great. My husband went for the elk burger which had a great subtle flavor.

This place has some offerings you don't typically find at a hamburger joint. Not just beef for your burger. You can get buffalo, bison, elk? I can't remember them all...but there are a few different types of meat to choose from. They do offer beef and chicken for your sandwich also, along with snowshoe fries and blue cheese for dipping.... More

John, the owner, is a trained chef. They are dedicated to offering healthy, delicious food - grain-fed beef, free-range chicken, and even emu and buffalo. The restaurant looks tiny as you enter, but it opens up to a larger area in the rear, and through that to a cozy patio with a fountain. Every single item they serve is carefully... More

We stopped for lunch here on our way back from Napa, CA to Carson City NV based on the Yelp reviews. I should have known better...yelp is not a good indicator of a decent place in a touristy area..... The service was okish. Very nice staff. Very mediocre food. We walked in and you first order your food at the... More

Being a vegetarian can pose lots of challenges. I stopped here for lunch mid-day on a Monday. I ordered a veggie burger. I have to say it is the best veggie burger I have ever had. It was not only the homemade burger that was good, it was the grilled onions and mushrooms. The burger had just a little bit... More

Three trips in a row, The Old Town Grill is a required stop for lunch while antiquing in Placerville. The owner, former chef for the Sacramento Kings, always has a kind word and friendly greeting from the grill for every patron coming into this tiny little place. Its old, crowded, a little dingy. Ordering is a little chaotic, but it... More

Old Town Grill is all about the food. Chef John and his daughter have put together a small menu large on flavor and hospitality. Simple selections at other restaurants become OTG gastronomic delights. Highly recommend trying the daily special. First visit was by chance in Oct. 2008 on the way to So. Lake Tahoe. So, good, that we stopped on... More

Park where you can and walk a block through historic downtown Hangtown (Placerville). The OTG is a VERY hole-in-the-wall place that is anything but ordinary! Standbys are up on the board above where you order, but check out the gourmet daily offerings that John comes up with as well! We chose a traditional bacon cheeseburger and split an order of... Returning from the Sierras I checked trip advisor for food in Placerville. Thanks to people who write reviews we had a great lunch. The staff really shows their appreciation for the customers. If it matters, alcohol isn't served.

I love going to the Old Town Grill! Not only is the food reasonably priced but it is phenomenal! The selection is amazing, as it the food! Heading back there in a couple of days for another great lunch! John, the owner, always has a smile on his face and he let's you know how much he appreciates you stopping... More
