The Levee --authentic Cajun

The Jambalya was great and the family who are from Louisiana and know that cooking very well, are fun nice people. This is happily one of the places in town where you can get the excellent Beers made by Old Hangtown Beerworks also!

They changed the name to the levee..a bit cajon influence..small place attentive..but a bit slow. A welcome addition to our small town. Nice ribeye..good wine list.

Gary, one of the former owners of Cafe Luna, told me they had sold the restaurant and he encouraged us to try it under the new ownership. We have had about 10 years of great meal experiences at Cafe Luna so I was a bit concerned about the change. No reason to be as the food was super! Our favorite... More

Food was great. We were there for about three hours. Arrived early for 6:00 p.m. reservation...along with rest of diners for the evening. With one chef, it took a long time to get our food. Good friends made it fun, but definitely paid the babysitter extra. We live in Sac. While flavors were yummy, don't know that this experience will... More

We just moved to Placerville a couple months ago and wanted to go to someplace local for my husband's birthday and decided on Cafe Luna. We had heard that they were under new ownership - rest assured, the food is still great. Small, but cozy restaurant - we choose to sit outside on deck over the creek. I ordered Chicken... More

Requested a reservation for 6:00pm, party of 2, and was told they were filled but could take us at 6:30. We arrived on time and were seated in the smallish main dining room that had a number of tables open and set up. Were were offered a table in a side room, but choose instead to be seated in the... I heard this restaurant is under new management, so I was hesitant; the dinner experience we had, happily, was marvelous. It was my birthday, therefore I hoped for a pleasant, romantic spot for me and my husband to celebrate. Cafe Luna didn't disappoint. I found the restaurant decor and atmosphere to be both tasteful and lovely. Our hostess and server... More

Six for dinner, waited a few minutes for our reservation and so worth it. The lamb chops cooked perfect mid rare, pasta carbonara very flavorful, salad's accompanied entree's and were large in their own right. All portions are large and filling. We took our own wine and the corkage was low. Two deserts shared by all six of us were... More

I went with a group of friends to Cafe Luna. I was sooo pleasantly surprised. Ten went and we all had different things. We tried each other's dishes. It was so great. The flavors were excellent and the service was exceptional. We were so happy with it! I'm booking my friend's 65 birthday party dinner there.

We returned to Cafe Luna after several years in order to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Our salad was truy outstanding however our main courses were less than what we had expected. The filet was stringy and tough & my brides rib eye was tasteless. The presentation featured a sea of mashed potatoes... More
