A Diamond in the Rough! My boyfriend and I did not know what to expect from such a quaintly located restaurant. But what a pleasant surprise! We each chose the 7 course dinner sampler, which included Kobe Beef, mandarin glazed chicken, ahi tuna, and more! Everything was fantastic, and the wine tasters with each dish were fantastic as well. Our... More

We lived down the block a bit. Take in stride it's off the track. Make a reservation. For sure cause they get a tude fast. The food is very good...nice wine list..They have a cafe too..I saw a for sale sign the other day? It's still exotic for up here.

For bistro-style French fare, Zachary Jacques has found a winning formula far from any population center. Casual seating, a $27.95 prix fixe menu with daily specials as well as the traditional bistro entrees. Escargots Bourguignonne had plenty of garlic, just the way I like it. The short ribs were tasty, tender and the portion was generous. The side dishes were... More

It's a bit off the beaten path, but close to home for me. My husband and I went here to celebrate a new job. Because it was Thursday we could bring our own wine without paying a corking fee - pretty awesome. Both of us really wanted to braised beef, but we usually like to get different items and share.... We ate at Zachary Jacques at the recommendation of a local friend. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service professional and the wine list, although small, was well selected. Prices were very reasonable, particularly the day's special, and an excellent value. This was one of our best restaurant experiences in the Gold Country..

This place was just ok. Went there because of a review I read. Food was pretty good, but over-priced. A rather good jazz band was playing when I was there. Won't be going back, however. Nothing special by any stretch.

We had their 3 course dinner special, which included salad, main course and desert. The salad was ok, I had the rabbit which was so dry that I could hardly eat it ( had to drink plenty just to get it down) my wife had the ribeye steak which was so thin you could read a paper through it almost.... We had high hopes for Zachary Jacques based upon other reviews and learning that one of their chefs has joined the French Laundry. But our experience was disappointing. The ambiance was - well, it appears to have been most recently updated during the Eisenhower administration. Service was attentive. The menu was pretty traditional Americanized French. The food was just ok:... More

We decided to try Zachary Jacques after eating at their sister restaurant ZacJack. (Lower priced, but still excellent food.) We chose to go for an anniversary celebration, and we weren't disappointed. They offer a prix fixe menu which includes starter, entree, and dessert for around $30. It's an excellent way to try out their yummy menu. The ambiance of the... More

Love the food and the bar area. The bar has music in the evenings, I believe on the weekends only, but it has been a while since I've eaten there. Its a bit pricey for a single person like me.
