Excellent Mexican Food

I came here a few months ago with my mom and fiancé for a later brunch on a Sunday. There was a long waiting list so we waited about 30 min. Needless to say, the wait was worth it. The food is very inexpensive, but the service and taste is excellent! It's a small restaurant, but don't be fooled... read more

As a long-time resident of Placentia, I have eaten at El Farolito several times (usually at some visitor's enthusiastic request). The building is a run-down, dirty, cramped, converted home. The service and food are average. Parking is a challenge in our "historic" district. The popularity of this place mystifies me. I can' help thinking of Frozen Mexican food heated in... More

Delicious!!!! We've been twice and can't wait to go back again. Great beans and rice. Margarita weak though. Very good service.

There are two exceptional Mexican restaurants in old downtown Placentia, and one of them is Farolitos. Farolitos is probably the most popular of the two and has grown its reputation by consistently serving up some of the best Mexican food in Placentia. There is Mexican food and there is MEXICAN food. Farolitos serves the latter. The food tastes authentically Mexican.... More

I wanted to try a new place on our recent visit to SoCal, so once again I turned to Tripadivsor. The restaurant looks like it was a house and that the front porch area was closed in to use for part of the restaurant. It was very busy the evening we dined here, but were able to find a parking... This is probably the very best home style Mexican food I have ever had! The carnitas are always succulent, the chile verde is awesome, the chile rogo is fabulous and the chile relleno is out of this world. My wife and daughter just go crazy for the enchiladas. The real secret to this place is that the cooking is done... More

A friend of mine and her husband introduced me to this restaurant about 8 years ago. It's been at least 6 years since I've been there, because I haven't been in the neighborhood. However, last night, I had a craving that just would not quit. I drove out of my way to get to el Farolito. The food is authentic... More

Okay so I read the TripAdvisor reviews and mainly went for their fresh cinnamon coffee and it did not disappoint. I also had the chilaquiles, which were perfect because they were not too spicy, just had a real good flavor. They packed the plates with beans and rice, all homemade, and my son was really into the way they did... More

This is a great local family kitchen. If you don't know where it is is might be hard to find. No diet food here this is for Authentic Southern California Mexican Food. Chips and salsa are fresh. Nachos are huge and everything is very good. Make time Don't rush you will miss the experience.

If you happen to be in old town Placentia, you should really try El Farolito. I have tried different dishes, the pork carnitas are true hit. Every time I've gone there is always a wait list and people waiting outside. So go early or order to go. You won't be disappointed.
