Very dog friendly patio. Had their clam chowder - excellent - and an Ortega burger, also very good. My wife had Steamed Clams and homemade chips. Both were outstanding.

Shell Cafe is becoming a local hangout as they support local bands with jam sessions during the week. Wednesday's are particularly good! Good folks who are supporting the local community.

My wife and I visited the Shell Cafe two days in a row, Nov 30th and Dec 1st. We spend the Thanksgiving week at the San Luis Bay Inn in Avila Beach, and make it a habit to stop at the Shell Cafe on the drive home on Monday. But Sunday found us in need of a quick (and by... More

Best eggs benedict I've had in a long time. This place has changed it's name a couple of times, but the food and service remain the best place for breakfast in Pismo.

A favorite when we visit Pismo, you just have to time the visit to miss the lines. We went in close to closing time on Sunday night, but enjoyed good food and service. The chowder is delicious, the fish tacos very tasty and hubby enjoyed the fried clam strips. Just good laid back casual dining in a laid back town.

This place has the best clam chowder flown in fresh every day for their restaurant. We had the bread bowl with the clam chowder, OMG so good. So glad we can only visit this place every year or so. The atmosphere is very casual and is a hang out for most kids in town. There are always a long line,... More

I just ate at shell cafe and wish I had gone somewhere else instead. I ordered a breakfast omelete and fruit. The omelet was just ok and a bit cold when it arrived. The avocado on top was terrible! The fruit was just melons and didn't taste very fresh.

Ate here for brunch this morning. Got a crab benedict and omolette. Crab cakes were deep fried. Omlette had avocados that tasted like they were from a can. And hair in the toast. It seemed busy, and hurried staff - so maybe were understaffed today. But not coming back.

We had the chower bowl and the tri tip sandwich. The chowder was bland and a little floury and the sourdough bowl wasnt very sour. The tri tip was very smoky and tender but lacked flavor, and the roll was horrible it was your average supermarket roll. The service was friendly but slow.

Stopped in here for lunch during a two day getaway to Pismo. The restaurant is a little away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown tourist area and I found it to be a nice change. The food was good, prices reasonable. Very clean. Staff friendly and attentive.
