Good, pricey seafood experience

Like many others, we had the bucket for 2 with Dungeness, shrimp, and clams. Our waitress recommended we get the clams cooked separately in wine broth and that turned out to be a great way to do the clams. The shrimp was hugh, generous quantity, and succulent in the steamer. The only... read more

Food was good but crowded and noisy. I think that is what they were going for. Seemed very touristy. They have family style items and buckets for all the shells, cobs and other waste. Don't wear dry clean only clothes.

So we stopped by at Pismo for a night before heading to Los Angeles driving the picturesque California 1 freeway from Carmel. Looked up a restaurant for good seafood and came across The Cracked Crab. Moment you enter the restaurant you realise you've come to a serious seafood connoisseur mecca for crab prawns clan chowder fish n chips and all... More

Imagine a huge heap of crab legs and slipper lobsters, and a basin of melted butter. Now imagine you and a couple of hungry friends demolishing it. Happiness!

A large group of us went here for lunch during a recent trip to Pismo Beach for a wedding. The food, overall, was great. I couldn't eat most of the dishes due to having some food allergies, but I had the chicken and it was really good! My husband had the Crab Roll and said it was awesome. Great and... More

Thank god we found this place - Pismo doesn't seem blessed with countless good places to eat but this place is a real gem if you're looking for top notch informal food. It's all about the bucket... tipped on to your table for you to smash, pick and crush your way through. We loved it!

My husband and I were trying to make a decision about were to eat locally that had great food that would pair with an amazing bottle of wine I'd been saving. The Cracked Crab did not disappoint. They chilled the bottle of Riesling, and made great suggestions of what was being prepared that day. My husband tried the abalone (small... More

Enjoyed our meal here. Very fresh ingredients, friendly helpful waitress. Fun to watch buckets of hot shellfish being dumped on the butcher paper covered tables, folks wearing plastic bibs. Would definitely return.

We had eaten here a couple years ago and came back because the Alaskan Bairdi Crab is the best we’ve ever had. We were told only 6 restaurants in the US offer it. We ordered Big Bucket for One – wild gulf shrimp & Bairdi crab – includes spicy Cajun sausage, red skin potatoes, corn cobetts – dumped on the... More

We had an amazing meal here on our first night in town! The atmosphere is super fun and fairly laid back, which you wouldn't expect from the prices. We had the crab buckets which are a TON of food but you can't beat them - it's totally worth it. Cracked Crab had a great drink menu as well!!
