After searching along California coast, we found the best clam chowder bread bowl here...with the great topping of crabmeat & shrimps. The bread was crispy & light. Winter.... No long queues. Will be dreaming of our next return trip in 5 yrs time.

I didn't try the famous chowder because I only eat the red (Manhattan) kind. My experience is that the only place you can get that in CA is in Monterey and on the pier in Santa Cruz. Since I was in Pismo I ordered the fried clam strips. Of course they were not likely to be Pismo clams (are there... More

If you are hesitant to go to Splash because you see a loooonnnngggg line...don't worry...wait it out and go. It's worth it. Get the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl to go and eat it on the Pismo Pier...great memories!

Im sure everything on their menu is good, but I only have eyes for the clam chowder. My husband told me tales of getting a cup of the best chowder in the world and walking on the beach.... Now it's a staple when visiting. We usually stay in Morro Bay and make a special trip to Pismo just to visit... More

Our family eats at Splash Every time we go to Pismo! Even though you stand in line that wraps around the building...it's totally worth it. Fish tacos, clam chowder and calamari and chips are our favorites!

Splash might have lived up to its reputation years ago, but now is just a tourist trap, congested with tourists expecting world class seafood. Always a long line and little space to sit in order to have third class clam chowder. Several other spots in Pismo have much better food, easier access, and real seating and wait staff. For great... This iconic beach cafe is located within one block of the Pismo Pier. Just look for the long line wrapped around the corner. Splash has won multiple awards for their chowder. Thick creamy base with lots of clam and potatoes. Light on the celery. It bursts with clam flavor. Order it with the seafood topping in the sour dough bowl.... More

A bowl of chowder and loaf on a cold day after a surf is the way to go. It's a good and tasty way to thaw out. The girls behind the counter are always friendly and food rolls out pretty quick. They also have killer grilled cheese sandwiches made on sourdough bread!

I had the clam chowder sourdough bowl and was sufficiently stuffed when I finished. I've had the cup of chowder before but wanted to get my fill this time. Unforturnately my husband had the fish and chips and was not as happy about his meal.

This place is very popular and as per my friends recommendation stopped by here to check it out. There is always a huge line but it moves quickly, small place so hard to find a table to eat. We ordered the clam chowder without the bread and I thought it was horrible. It was way too creamy and it had... More
