Wonderful food. Great service. Will eat here again whenever possible!

Extra good dinner, experienced by all 4 of us. Filet with lobster ravioli, very good. Chicken marsala was excellant! Pasta dish and salad, yummy. Bread was nice too. And the bread pudding, cheesecake, wine.......need I say more.....oh ya, the service was perfect!

Chef and Owner Doug M.came out to say hello and check on us and others in the dinning room. I eat here often and am blown away by how consistenly fantastic the food and service always is. Chef Doug explained how his dishwashers are trained to notice what is left on plates and in glasses before cleaning everything. If they... More

When my husband and I walked in to Rosa’s , the warm atmosphere and friendly greeting made us feel like we were part of the family. The Chef and owner Douglas MacMillan came out and filled us in on the family history while we started enjoying the warm homemade, soft Italian bread . The italian butter that was matched with... I had the immense privilege and pleasure of taking part in a special Chef’s Dinner recently. This seven course meal included wine and delicious samplings of fabulous dishes that whetted my appetite for more. The appetizer, Carciofi Fritti (Fried Artichokes) was lightly crunchy on the outside and creamily flavorful on the inside. With a balsamic glaze and shaved parmesan, the... More

What a treasure to come across on the Central Coast! I have lived here most of my life and somehow I managed to miss out on Rosa's until now. First of all, the chef - Doug - exuded such a warm and welcoming energy. It felt like I was having dinner in a family home. The decor of the restaurant... More

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted graciously by the host. A very classy restaurant with a warm lighting . That Italian smell of sauce and bread being baked filled the air, and I got excited for the experience right away. Waiting for us at the table was a bowl of what looked like a sauce or soup. It... Ok, I'll admit it.... I'm love these Food Critic writing classes that Central Coast Food Writer Teri Bayus teaches a couple times a year. The latest one was at Rosa's Italian Restaurant in Pismo Beach and ....Oh My!!! Chef and owner Doug McMillan took full advantage of the "teachable moment" to really show off the high quality cuisine, thought and... More

I am currently taking a class involving all of the techniques in becoming a successful writer. One of the aspects of this class explores the area of food critic. I faced this challenge with fear and trepidation as I have a couple of problems that no food critic should have to be successful. Problem one, I cannot smell scents well... More

Eating gluten free at an Italian restaurant can be tricky. Rosa's Chef Douglas MacMillan understands this and has made accommodations for those dining out with allergies or dietary restrictions. Chef Douglas is willing to create similar dishes that meet your needs. Among those are gluten free chicken marsala, pizza, pasta and cheese ravioli. Rosa's also has a gluten free chocolate... More
