This place is clearly a tavern, with lots of drinking space; but at 8:30 am, it's quiet, the breakfasts are great and the portions are generous. One of their specialties is an artichoke heart omelet. Good coffee, too. Certainly not fancy, but 'the real deal' for a local joint. more

The artichoke soup was very good but my calamari sandwich was not so good. The bread was very thin and tasted plain. I thought it would be served on some good old tasting San Francisco sourdough bread. The calamari was a little tough for me also. My sandwich was $$$ and not worth it. more

I agree with the reviewer about the artichoke soup; unfortunately everything else was inedible. My salmon, a "house specialty" was not fresh and overcooked. My husband and I have been Duarte's (pr. DOO-arts) fans since we first began dating, back in the early 1980's.
