Description: From its inviting corner location at Park and 14th streets in charming downtown Paso Robles, Artisan captures the essence of the Paso Robles wine country on every plate. Showcasing locally grown produce and handcrafted foods, Executive Chef Chris Kobayashi finds much of the inspiration for his dishes through regular trips to the farmer’s market; he combines regional American flavors in new and innovative ways. Artisan’s menu features local and organic produce, and proteins that are wild caught or sustainably farmed with no growth hormones or antibiotics. Chef Kobayashi’s insistence on freshness and quality complements his style which allows each ingredient to shine, but not overwhelm. Designed to complement its contemporary American cuisine, Artisan’s wine list offers a balanced selection of varietals that includes many wines from California regions in small or limited distribution. The staff of Artisan kindly look forward to serving you in the near future.

Artisan is the restaurant that you wish were down the street in your home town. Not too fancy, not too plain. With the freshest ingredients direct from the farm. We ate there for lunch during the week, so the crowds were subdued and the wait staff was attentive. Our group had everything from salads to hamburgers and all had the... More

I went to Artisan Sunday night with my husband and two friends to celebrate my birthday. I ordered the flank steak and it was terrible! It was tough and over cooked even though I requested it to be cooked medium rare. Our server (the pregnant one that is due in Sept) asked us when our food was just served if... More

Since we were only spending one night in Paso Robles we were looking for a restaurant with fine dining. The innkeepers at the B & B had suggested a few restaurants and the Artisan was one of them. Once we viewed the Artisan’s website we knew that was our choice. I’m glad we made reservations because the restaurant was completely... More

I frequently go to restaurants and it has been a long while since I've been so pleasantly surprised by the food. Everything was spot on: a very clever combination of flavors and textures, the temperature at which everything was served and the presentation. Besides a very good service. They were knowledgeable about the wines and were helpful with the description... More

Food was simple, yet divine with amazing layers of flavor. We went later on a Sunday evening, avoiding any crowds. Atmosphere was inviting, upscale without being stuffy. Will definitely return!

Excellent food. A little on the trendy/nouvelle side but a good menu. We both got steak (hanger and skirt) and they were both tender and delicious. The service was excellent as well.

Excellent food, wine and service. We stop at Artisan whenever we are anywhere even close to Paso. Whatever your style there is something for you. Kale/duck salad, burger, bacon tatter tots, cheese plate, home made sorbets, wine, locally source ingredients, lunch or dinner this restaurant never disappoints. Look for their new Paso location in June 2013!

This was my third dinner, in this intimate and stylish restaurant. It has views if the kitchen and the street outside (on June 1 that outside view will be of the park, with their new location). The food is local and fresh, but also innovative. They offer wonderful wines, both bottles and by the glass, many from the central coast,... More

Nothing to dislike about this restaurant.......We stopped in for lunch. I had the pastrami sandwich. It was very good and filling. The fries came with a caper aiole, nice touch to the dipping sauce. My wife had the kale salad and I tried some of it and it was also delicious. We will definantely be back on our next visit... More

We had never been to Paso Robles before, so we did a quick "google" which found Yelp which listed Artisan as the best in the city. It probably is. I started with the soup of the day, tomato bisque presented with a cheese topping just like a French Onion soup. It was out of this world! I mean really fine.... More
