Excellent Italian on Lake Street

A lovely establishment with a typically kind wait-staff (every so often, I've received very brusque service), Celestino serves high-caliber food at reasonable prices. Excellent quality of ingredients.

Every restaurant to make money needs to "turn over" the table more than one. We had dinner there tonight (4 people) and with our permission were seated right on the aisle next to the serving area. However after ordering cocktails, right after delivery of our salads, we were asked "are you having wine?" not once, not twice, not three times,... More

First, a qualifier: We've lived in restaurant-rich Pasadena for many years and Celestino's is one of our favorite places for special occasions and general fine-food therapy. We've also traveled and enjoyed excellent fine food in US, Europe and elsewhere, thus we feel well-educated and well fed! Reading some of the below reviews of Celestino's puzzle us, as we find the... While in Pasadena for the week-end, we found that our favorite restauran was closed so we opted to go to Celestino Ristorante. This restaurant is very lively, the waiters are delightlfully black suited and stuffy and everybody seems to know each other - typical Pasadena and fun to be a part of. The only problem was the food and this... More

The fettuccine with wild mushrooms and black truffles in a 4 cheese sauce was one of the best pastas I've ever tasted. My wife's order of tortellini stuffed with pumpkin in a cream, butter and sage sauce was equally mouthwatering. The place is a local favorite especially on weekends. Unfortunately, we reserved only a day in advance and our table... More

It was very busy the night we dined at Celestino. We were left on our own several times because some of our party were not quick to make a decision on what to order. In addition, the waiters were a bit brusque and a bit pushy. But the food was absolutely divine! The minestrone soup was all fresh chopped vegetables.... More

Celestino is not only my 'go-to' Pasadena restaurant, but, having introduced quite a few acquaintances to it, it has also typically become theirs, also. Excellent, friendly, personal service, a very nice menu and kitchen who knows how to cook to your desire, etc. And, a terrific, if somewhat pricey, wine list. But with several specials at the back of the... More

We have been to Celestino's several times and have always had a great meal and wonderful service. I had the pumpkin tortellini, which I still can't get out of my mind. My husband had the osso bucco and he enjoyed every bite. The desserts are many and each one of them excellent. Every time we have dined there we have... More

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel. The initial impressions of the staff and the dated interior was not a positive. I am thinking it may have be established in the 1980s and has been refurbished since. However, the food and wine was excellent and the service became more personable as the night wore on. Despite... My daughter and I had a wonderful Halloween dinner at Celestino. Our waiter Carlos was tremendous. He was friendly and very attentive. His recommendations for entrees and wines were impeccable. The appetizers were superb, especially the Timballo Funghi. The rack of veal was outstanding and the cannoli with some some gelato for desert was wonderful. All-in-all, it was great night out...
