Brunch at the Raymond

This is a charming restaurant in a converted old home in Pasadena. The menu has a wonderful range of selections and the service is very good. The acoustics however are terrible. When I made our reservations I specifically asked for a quiet table. We were in a booth, in a crowded corner and the noise was unbearable. I couldn't hear... More

Being a Pasadena resident since 1993, I ovelooked The Raymond because of its lack of curb appeal. In fact, there is no curb appeal, as you must park on the street, valet is an option, and then walk down a slight 5 degreeish hill. One sees as you approach the establishment the outside sitting area. I have avoided this area,... More

The Raymond had been known for many things - great food, beautiful décor and excellent service. I visited many times last 15 years and never disappointed. I sampled their brunch, lunch, dinner and tasting menu. I like their dinner starter menu the most because all my favorite dishes are there - tandoori cauliflower, pork belly and the ahi. I also... We are happy about Raymond's reorganization which brought us high quality and creative food. But the service really took a dive. On our visit in January, we were seated in the porch section - which was fine. We were the only people in this section and no one came to greet us for 10 minutes. We inquired and the waiter... More

A friend took us to the Raymond and it is admittedly a nice atmosphere, quiet enough so you can actually carry on a conversation. My one complaint and I suspect that it is not an isolated incident is that my corn soup was cold, not cool, cold. They bring it from the kitchen in a little jug made of heavy... More

We love the patio for lunch or brunch and the inside of the cottage for dinner especially in fall and winter. Reservations are a must as this is a popular place for those who love great food and service. Use their valet parking as it is difficult to park in this area.

We enjoyed an anniversary brunch at the lovely Raymond. We asked to be seated outdoors and found ourselves seated next to a lovely outdoor fireplace, so Christmasy. I ordered the cinnamon roll off of the starter menu. I am ever hopeful about cinnamon rolls, but am often disappointed. This roll was. . . Perfect. Perfect cream cheese frosting. Perfect doughy,... Eight of us went to lunch yesterday at The Raymond for a birthday lunch. The Raymond has a wonderful reputation being an upscale restaurant in Pasadena. It is very dark so be prepared. We did get the room in the back patio area so there were windows all around They brought us fruit to start, which was a nice touch.... More

The setting is very nice in a restored old home. The noise level is low enough to allow conversation. The wine list is extensive and the servers are knowledgeable about its contents. The menu is varied and interesting. Now...the few negatives: Service was "American".. Not professional (eg. Stretching over diners to serve others, not bringing all the entrees at the... More
