Panda Inn is the source and original inspiration behind the nationally recognized Panda Express restaurants.
Andrew Cherng and his father, Master Chef Ming Tsai Cherng, opened the first Panda Inn in Pasadena, California in 1973. Their goal was to share the culinary arts of Mandarin and Szechuan cuisines with their local community by emphasizing the Chinese art of balancing tastes and textures to provide a dining experience that delights the senses.
Today, still family-owned with five locations in Southern California, Panda Inn honors over 40 years of heritage and takes great pride in serving delectable cuisine with attentive service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Chinese food worth the wait

It may take a while for your order to arrive (especially if you stop in for take-out), but the flavor of gourmet authentic Chinese food that is not drenched in soy sauce or salt is worth the wait. Many menu items can be customized for different diets: low salt, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, so be... read more

I used to go there back in the 80's and when I moved out of the area I forgot about them. What a loss to me. I decided to try them again and it was a wonderful surprise. It looks expensive but it has something to fit every budget - AND THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE! Located in the middle of... More

Being half Chinese we know good Chinese food and when traveling in most parts of the country it is becoming increasingly hard to find really good Chinese food. We have visited this restaurant every time we are in the area and it is always excellent, the food, the service and the ambiance.

I would go elsewhere if you're looking for excellent Chinese food as Panda Inn is overpriced and only okay. You're in a city with lots of wonderful Chinese food nearby - eat at a smaller place, not a chain!

Definitely make reservations if you're going to dine on a weekend, and be sure to request a booth when you do. (A few private dining rooms are available upon special request.) The Upside Down Noodles and Honey Walnut Shrimp were superb! Service was also excellent... DGB

This is THE place for upscale Chinese food in Pasadena. The atmosphere is just right and upscale. All the dishes that I have tried are very good. Good place for a large group or party. They have private dining rooms.

Had the wanton soup and the tea-smoked duck. Both were delicious. My dining mate had the moo shu chicken, which he liked. Definitely will be back.

Very noisy Sunday buffet brunch. Items include: some sushi; Chinese style soup made to order; numerous deep fried items: fish, pork, chicken all smothered in very heavy sauces; mostly everything has been sweetened with the same sauce so it all tastes the same; small side dish items, (didn't know what they were, no signs); some dessert. Service was fair. For... More

A good place if you want some cuisine that reminiscent of Asian flavor but don't want to be adventurous. My to go order usually consist of hot and sour soup, Panda beef ( their version of less fiery Hunan beef) , and some chicken or vegetable fish. Recently they added some new dishes inspired by Schezuan cuisine like shredded spicy... More

Several of my high school friends chose this restaurant for a get-together lunch meeting to plan our next high school reunion. The service was prompt, the food was delicious and there was a pleasing ambiance in the private dining room we were assigned. This was our second meeting at this restaurant and the service was just as good as the... More
