Very Nice Dim Sum Dining Experience

Went in for a late afternoon lunch with the family. Dim sum food was very good and the service was excellent. Chefs/Cooks in the back kitchen were Cantonese which added to the experience. We had standard dim sum fare of pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, steamed BBQ Pork Buns, etc... we augmented... read more

For the second time in a row we have had incredibly poor service. Today our.beef was raw and the waiter was unable to understand what to do about it.. He just held the dish and remained motionless. The prices are too high and the service is incompetent. No more!

For an early Xmas dinner, Tai Pan was jammed full. And no wonder: the large variety of dim sum -- all WONDERFUL (except for the short ribs, which none of us cared for) -- made for an exciting and tasty meal. We all came in famished and emerged at the end completely full and COMPLETELY satisfied. It's hard to go... More

I have to agree with other reviews. Tai Pan has great food but expensive, but it's worth for a special occasion. We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday in its private room (wine library)...beautiful setting with good service. I personally selected 7 dishes for the party of 13 people. My guests enjoyed the night with delicious gourmet food and wine pairing.

Seriously wonderful Chinese food. Don't miss the whole Peking Duck, the Sea Pearl soup or the Sea Bass in several dishes (all exceptional). The normal Dim Sum appetizers are just right and the service is very good. Comfortable and pleasant surroundings without being stuffy. All eight of us were happy. The younger ones loved the shrimp balls and the crispy... More

Over the years greed has taken over.. Service us mediocre, drinks are skimpy, food prices have increased beyond value and food is rarely hot. The receptionist turned water-bearer is beyond help. This is no longer a go-to place for us after 13 years...adios Taipan!

yes, i agree with other reviews that it's upscale and it's overpriced. think about it, it's palo alto and people there really don't mind spending a lot to get good food and good environment. btw, the service did not match the "upscale" standard, at least not the american nor the hong kong standard i expect. however, if you live in... This Chinese restaurant is so comfortable to come to. Its like having dinner in an elegant home....comfortable seating, tablecloths, good service. Food is very good here - freshly made - and nice portions for the group you are with. Service is done with a friendly graceful style. It is quiet enough for a nice dinner out - although many people... More

I have been a frequent customer at Tai Pan since 2007. Tai Pan has never disappointed me. I have also taken numerous groups of family members, friends, and business clients from Hong Kong and China to Tai Pan, all of them gave two thumbs up to the food at Tai Pan. Many of my clients were amazed by the availability... More

These folks have deluded themselves to believe that they can raise prices on ordinary skimpy dishes. Beef is hard to find, as is chicken in their dishes. Their bowl of rice is the tiniest I have ever seen. Overpriced wine in tiny pours. These guys must be desperate. Corkage is $20 and 18.5% tip is charged on the corkage for... More
