We make regular trips to Palo Alto and dinner at MacArthur Park is always a part of every trip. Their prime rib is delicious. The environment is warm and inviting. The service cannot be beat.

My son wanted to go to MacArthur Park for his 20 birthday to eat ribs. He got a huge slab and was up to his elbows in BBQ sauce and very happy. They do this sort of all American, hearty food (ribs, steak, chicken, mashed potatoes, fries, cole slaw, etc) very well. But they also have a number of lighter... More

Arrived with my wife for dinner holding a 6pm reservation -- turned out this night the place was nearly empty. It is a bugger to find given the twists and turns of the immediate roads, complicated by the railway but the signs are well posted. Mandatory $5 Valet parking. Martinis were well prepared. Both had the filet of beef with... More

I was there for a banquet (50 people) and therefore my opinion can be slightly biased but: the dining room in the back is dark and very noisy. Tables are too densely packed and there is not good air conditioning. The food is average and the steak I got was far below average. ALso the coffee was not worth the... More

....historical building is great....valet parking..friendly/efficent staff...friend had pork chop/mashed sweet potatoes that looked good/she said they were...I had blackened fish special/spicy with spinach & polenta..fresh/warm sourdough bread....all good but nothing extraordinary..shared a spinach/beet salad...good portions...too full for dessert. There's a full bar/big screen tv with sports on. Tables outside in the back courtyard were occupied by a private party. I'd... More

An american/californian type restaurant. The food was very good not "to die for," but fresh. The service was very nice. Nothing special but I'd recommend for a normal meal.

A wedding rehearsal dinner here was delicious and well served by the staff. One suggestion: Make sure you aren't adding a tip to a bill that already has one added to it. After a few glasses of wine you may not see it, and no one it going to point it out to you. We are still trying to get a... More

MacArthur Park has been in the same location for years at University Avenue and El Camino Real. Nice upscale restaurant with good classic American cuisine in a historic building.

We were a party of 12 people visiting Stanford university having dinner at the MacArthur Park restaurant in the evening. I ordered a steak cooked rare. When I got the steak it was medium to well done. It also missed potatoes on the plate that the menu stated. When I told the waiter he just said that maybe they mixed... More

I recently had an opportunity to eat at MacArthur Park with a group of 8 people. The foodwas of high quality and well-prepared, standard American fare. The seafood shared appetizer plate was excellent - particularly the tuna. The service was just OK, and not up to the standard (or the price) of the food. Refills were slow, etc. Not really... More
