Anyone going to Palo Alto likely already knows that it is wildly overpriced for anything and quality is compromised because they can get away with both high prices and high profiteering by cutting quality, quantity, and service. We had a pre-organized 'limited menu' dinner for 25 business and science attendees that was somewhat disappointing in all categories except for the... More

We were visiting Stanford for a baseball camp and look forward to having a good dinner each day, Pro Bono was a great end to a busy day. Started with burrata cheese and tomato salad, wild boar sausage with white beans and a beef carpaccio, all were excellent. Main coarse of rabbit with fettuccine was fork tender and had great... More

Just arrived from East Coast and visiting friends who recommended this as the perfect spot for a time zone-adjustment meal...and it was. Friendly greetings all around and attentive and focused service. The wines selections are abundant and good value, but you can BYO for a $15 corkage fee. Appetizers were tasty and nicely presented, with evening's special mushroom tartlette especially... More

I was in town for a conference and a friend and I stumbled across this place. Great wine selection and the food was amazing! Would definitely go back when in the area.

Cafe Pro Bono has really good food at reasonable prices and best of all it is quiet enough to have a conversation so it is wonderful for a business lunch. Joist off of California Avenue, it is conveniently located. The waiters are very attentive.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday when we were in a hurry, and the staff was extremely accommodating as well as solicitous in an unobtrusive way. You so seldom find any sort of business any more, let alone a restaurant, that truly seems to want customers and actually behave that way. As an added plus,... More

In the negative side, the function room we were in lacked ambiance, and decent air conditioning. On the plus side it was a different story withe the food. We had a mix of appetizer, "Susan's downfall" was my favourite. I had Veal Picatta for my entree, which was lovely, and finished with a delicous apple torte. The service was attentive... More

Went there on a Sunday night at 8:30, and were not told when making the reservation that the kitchen closed at 9. This meant that the main courses and starters were dumped on the table at the same time - very cavalier. As for the quality, the Carpaccio was a small portion given its price. The rabbit main course featured... More

I hesitate to review this wonderful go-to restaurant for me because I don't want it to become too crowded! Although it is always busy, tables are usually available without reservations. You are warmly greeted by the maitre D and made to feel as welcome as a regular patron is greeted. The service is seamless and never intrusive though attentive. Most... More
