Average food, average service, average value for money. Nothing really special - nothing also that will make me come back. Sorry. Plenty of other restaurants in Palo Alto to try instead!

Had reservations for Osteria and clearly said four adults and an infant. Unfortunately we had to squish into a really small 4 top and keep the baby in the aisle. We had to watch when food was passed to keep the infant safe. We split a tomato caprese and enjoyed it. Dinner entrées met with varying degrees of success. My... More

Our Irish waiter was very good. Too bad that was not true of the food. It was very old fashioned and not very tasty. Sole had red sauce with a little tang but not much taste. Bruschetta are to be avoided -- too bland. Bufalo mozzarella was spare and bland. Nothing to drink except Italian sparkling drinks -- and wine,... More

Our recent visit was much like when we first went 20 years ago! Freshly prepared pastas that melt in your mouth, wait staff who clearly work together as a team, and all in an atmosphere of families and couples packed together to enjoy the food.

This is a great spot for really good Italian food. I am particularly impressed by how hot and freshly made the food is. You can't miss.

I've been going to Osteria for the past 25 years. Perhaps I've eaten there over a 100 times and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. Their Calamari steak meals in your mouth, the salad's are fresh and glistening with olive oil and garlic. Great sourdough bread and fast and efficient service. If you happen to be in... More

Went for a meal on a very busy evening in Palo Alto and chose this one because it wasn't bursting at the seams but looked pretty good. Our meal was, as others here have said, classic. Well presented, simple Italian food with no nonsense. The only problem we encountered with it was having to wait 20 minutes to get a... More

Every other review already said it. It is affordable, delicious, and consistent. The three legs on which a restaurant's reputation stands. We have been enjoying the food their for over twenty years.

Osteria has been in Palo Alto for a long time. It is a 'classic' Italian restaurant in the best sense of the word. They serve some of the best homemade pasta in Palo Alto, fresh ingredients, and dishes that have not changed much over the years that are 'perfected'. Plus their wait staff is professional, efficient, and they go the... More

Only been there once (in our year in Palo Alto) but the food was very authentic Italian. (We lived in Italy for a year.) And delivered hot, which is a must.
