I enjoy going to this restaurant but am usually a bit let down by the service. The food is good but not great, considering the price. That being said, there are great wines to choose from.

This place closed because it wasn't that good. This should tell you something about the reviews that said it was the best meal they've had. The food was inconsistent and very high priced. I always did like deserts at the bar, though. In any case, it's over, signs say it'll be replaced by an upscale rustic pizza place.

While staying in Silicon Valley, we went to Palo Alto one evening. We walked up and down University Ave. and this restaurant most appealed to is so we went in. Most table were occupied, so we were lucky to get in without reservations, but it was later in the evening. We began with wine and an appetizer of the tastiest,... More

Our server was fantastic. She knew the menu and wine list well. A jazz group was playing on Friday evening when we were there. They were playing near the entrance/bar and were at just the right volume while we were dining. We had the lamb and Croatian sausages off of the Croatian menu. Both were outstanding. The sausages came grilled... More

unique menu offerings featuring Croatian specialties. One to try for sure is “Cevapcici” -- homemade sausage. Wait staff enjoys their work, makes you feel at home. Generous portions, cozy atmosphere.

We had dinner here last night and it was excellent, from the atmosphere (we sat outside) to the food, to the wonderful service.

Our party of five arrived in the early evening, and received very inconsistent service. When the waitress did stop by the table, she would giggle inappropriately and act strange. We went for long periods of time with no service at all. The food was overpriced and mundane at best. Toward the end of our dinner, I requested a fresh cup... More

Menucard with many possibilitees, both fish, meat and ethnic. The salads fresh. Competent and friendly staff. Prices OK.

We like Lavanda - it's one of the few restaurants around willing to serve grilled sardines, has a creative menu overall. I think when the main cook has a day off, the food suffers. Cevapcici is quiet nice when the Croatia menu comes out. "Handkerchiefs with Traditional beef Ragù ‘Bolognese’ " was boring. Small plates are quiet often good -... More

Moderate meals, including small plates (that can add up) or on Sunday, try the Prix Fixe Dinners for $29.
