One of several locations for this place, all basically good, albeit a bit too corporate in style, with excellent food and good service.

The food was great - and the waiter was a riot. Very busy, but the staff worked hard and the food was good, hot and served ina timely manner.

The terrace is possibly the best place in the restaurant on a sunny afternoon for a late lunch. Tables are nicely set but there is nothing special about it. Rather noisy and difficult to hold a conversation. The food: little choice, preparation ok, but nothing exciting. Wine selection is a average for what the restaurant wants to be.

Two couples had dinner. The special salad that evening, with shrimp and avocado (among other things) was excellent. The house salad (Insalata del Fornaio) was good, though nothing special, and the vegetable soup was pretty thin. The Pennoni alla Vodka and the pork main course were excellent. While the sides that came with the grilled fish were cooked perfectly, the... More

Went to Il Fornaio this past Saturday night. Had a slightly negative experience there for a special occasion back in June so Nick, the manager, invited us back to give the restaurant another shot. Nick introduced himself when we got to the table and made sure that we were well taken care of for the entire meal. Our waiter was... More

I have eaten here several times recently both for breakfast and dinner and haven't been disappointed. Very professional service and excellent northern italian food.

Enjoyed the food. My waitress was awesome and super hot. The atmosphere was cool and nice. The wine selection was ok but not great.

Restaurant was less than half-full when we visited. Seated promptly, then, nothing. After 10 minutes, waiter arrives, asks if we've been helped. (They don't have assigned tables?). Takes drink order and food order all together. Then disappears. We never saw him again. EVER. Food arrives via runner. No one asks if we want pepper, grated cheese, etc. No one checks... More

This is by far one of the 'BEST' HaPpY Hours in Palo Alto. $5 drinks, cocktails, wine and beers. Selection of $5 appetizers like thin crust pizza, calamari you can easily make a meal from these!! Out door seating. Yummy cocktails!

We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday on a Friday evening (8/22/14). The place was crowded, and it had an energetic ambiance. It is a popular place. Make reservations if you're dining on a Friday and Saturday during prime dinner hour. I ordered the 3-course tasting menu, which focused on the cuisine of Sardinia. The tasting menu offered nice selections. I... More
