Caffe Riace is primarily an outdoor dining restaurant occupying the large courtyard space between two tall office buildings in the southern part of Palo Alto. Indoor dining is primarily 3 private rooms holding 10-35 people. Most people will be seated outdoors where there is a fountain and 10 foot Roman sculptures. So if the evening is cool bring a coat.... Beautiful outdoor dining patio with great service. Antipasti and salads ranged in price from $8.5 to $14.50; I enjoyed insalata siciliana (sweet winter oranges, shaved red onion, crushed red pepper, basil and parsley). The penne alla Siciliana (fennel and garlic spiced pork sausage, sauteed bloomsdale spinach, garlic, and tomatoes) was beautifully prepared and tasted great; large portion. The gnocchi al... More

Have been coming here for the last couple of years. While the food is very good and the ambience excellent, they could need up the service a little bit. Love the courtyard with the funky art pieces.

Ambience of a night in a small town in Italy, with a fountain, low lights, Italian wines, and the aroma of fine tomato sauce.. Outside dining under the stars and candlelight. I hadn't been to Cafe Riace for years and returned last night to see the same family Owned restaurant, and with some of its same excellent staff (Julio). It... More

Sitting outside near the fountains reminded my wife and me of our last trip to Stresa. She loved her gnocchi with pesto sauce. My veal marsala was fork-tender with fresh veggies and noodles. Prices for food and chianti (two choices) were reasonable considering the quality. Ample parking is available in a lot across the street. Had occupants been outside on... More

We have eaten here on several occasions. Excellent in fresh cuisine. Good and varied menu -check for specials. Service is very good. Eating outside is a pleasure ( heat lamps for those chilly nights) -indoor is acceptable but a bit tight. Reservations suggested.

In good weather, you will not find a more charming place to dine in Palo Alto than Caffe Riace. They are tucked away off a side street in the California Ave neighborhood south of University Avenue by about 2 miles. The courtyard is beautiful with a curious fountain of a woman holding a washing machine over her head that splashes... More

I have been to Caffe Riace several times and pleased each time. Some of the visits have been birthday celebrations. I have eaten indoors and outdoors on their patio. The patio has heat lamps and blankets are provided if needed. The food has always been good and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have gluten free pasta for those... More

Terrible service, average food, and totally misleading description of their indoor dining room. I booked a party of six for their "wine room" which turned out to be nothing but a small room with some wine bottles stacked against the wall, and no running A/C. I took some clients out and spent over $1K for one of the worst dining... More

The salmon was to die for and the wine list superb. You may wish to make a reservation. We've been there three times recently and once we had to wait. The food is excellent but not inexpensive and the service matches both the ambience and scale. I would recommend an evening when you able to savor the atmosphere and menu.... More
