Great Outdoor Seating, Good Food, Odd Statues

They had a large party inside the restaurant so while our appetizers arrived quickly, it took about one hour for our main courses to arrive. The weird statues and such are well covered by other reviews. I have spent a lot of time in Italy, so am quite demanding of Italian restaurants, to the point I tend to avoid them in the U.S. Nevertheless, my brother and his wife brought us here, and I found the food modest, at best, I do better Italian cooking... Four of us dined here on a lovely summer evening. We sat out on the brick patio, enjoying the tinkling fountain. We started with the Mediterranean salad, greens with chunks of summer fruit, candied walnuts & crumbled blue cheese. Vinaigrette dressing was light & delish. Then we ordered seafood linguini, salmon, shrimp with pesto spaghetti, and osso bucco. All dishes... More

The food is very ordinary Italian ..well done if that is what you are after. People tend to come in big groups families with kids, stanford groups etc. Gets noisy. Waiters can be overwhelmed

Food and wine really top notch, and the location with al fresco dining is great on a nice day. The specials are fantastic, with my favorite being Mama's Cannelloni. The wine list is quite good, but let the sommelier guide you unless you are an expert in Italian wines.

Had gone for an office dinner recently. The restaurant has a small outdoor area and the indoor area is primarily a collection of rooms. The person waiting on us requested that we place orders for starters, entrees & dessert together since they had a small kitchen. You'd do well to reserve before landing up. Nice wine list and great Italian... More

Caffe Riace is primarily an outdoor dining restaurant occupying the large courtyard space between two tall office buildings in the southern part of Palo Alto. Indoor dining is primarily 3 private rooms holding 10-35 people. Most people will be seated outdoors where there is a fountain and 10 foot Roman sculptures. So if the evening is cool bring a coat.... Beautiful outdoor dining patio with great service. Antipasti and salads ranged in price from $8.5 to $14.50; I enjoyed insalata siciliana (sweet winter oranges, shaved red onion, crushed red pepper, basil and parsley). The penne alla Siciliana (fennel and garlic spiced pork sausage, sauteed bloomsdale spinach, garlic, and tomatoes) was beautifully prepared and tasted great; large portion. The gnocchi al... More

Have been coming here for the last couple of years. While the food is very good and the ambience excellent, they could need up the service a little bit. Love the courtyard with the funky art pieces.
