Description: Since its opening in 1974, prime steaks and martinis have never gone out of style at this Palo Alto institution. The atmosphere is very clubby with fireplaces, dark wood, sports memorabilia and plush leather booths tucked into the many nooks throughout the dining room. Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib & hand-cut U.S.D.A Prime Steaks, they also offer fresh seafood, cold water lobster tail & succulent shellfish. The 23 oz. Bone-In Rib eye Steak is the "Boss' Favorite" while the Double Cut Filet Mignon runs a close second. Sundance is respected for serving the best food money can buy coupled with value & simplicity – a welcome relief for serious food & steak aficionados. The menu is supported by an award-winning wine list that features over 400 selections focusing on highly allocated Napa Valley Cabernets & Sonoma Pinot Noirs. Exceptional ratings & numerous restaurant awards rank Sundance the Steakhouse as a true dining destination.

Came here with a big group of about 20 people. They gave us a private room. The service was excellent – difficult when it is a big crowd. I ordered the prime rib (as did about 75% of the group – the others ordering various steaks). I got the petite cut, 8 ounces, rare. It was fantastic!! … and it... More

This place has been a staple of Palo Alto since 1974. The menu has plenty of variety, the food is prepared / presented well and the bus servers have your water glass filled, empty plates removed and bread filled without having to ask. Our waitperson, well that's a completely different story. I observed him respond to requests at a neighboring... More

We were happy to get a table for six on short notice, and the service was good at first. However, the kitchen must have gotten backed up. After enjoying our appetizers, we waited over 45 minutes for our entrees. This was a time change transition night for us, so the 3 hour dinner just killed us all. The kids had... More

We have visited this restaurant 2 times and both times the service, atmosphere and food have been fabulous. It feels like you are dining in someone's old country lodge. The steaks are some of the best I have ever had. Good wine list too.

I have dined at Sundance in the past and have been highly impressed. The most significant group I had there was roughly 8. We scheduled a dinner there for roughly 30 people. The staff did an outstanding job of managing such a large group. While dining for the group once we sat worked well, the cocktail hour prior to dining... More

I went there with my wife during the week. Great ambiance, welcoming staff. but my meat was disappointing as it had too much fat. All the rest went ok and we spent overall a good evening

Normally is hard to find a table to have dinner, but today I arrived early and bingo !! Good steak, good wine and environment. If you are close to Stanford, you need to try!

Just went there with group of 5 persons. This place is a bit upscale steak house in Palo Alto area with nicely decorated interior in hunting theme. Very lively place fully packed even on Tuesday night. Great wine and drink list and good steak particularly the prime rib is excellent. Service is also good despite being fully packed.

My second time at this restaurant and was hoping for someplace else. On my first visit, the service exceeded the quality of the meal. This time both were very good. Beer was cold and in the appropriate glass, appetizers were hot and flavorful, salad was fresh and I passed on steak this time and chose the fish special. Very well... More

We had 6:45 reservations on a Friday night, and it was rather busy. The bread is sourdough and yummy. Their caesar salad is just awesome, and if it were bigger, it would have been a meal by itself. The steaks here are just awesome, and I picked a 7 oz filet plus tomatoes. Totally worth it. I last had the... More
