Since its opening in 1974, prime steaks and martinis have never gone out of style at this Palo Alto institution. The atmosphere is very clubby with fireplaces, dark wood, sports memorabilia and plush leather booths tucked into the many nooks throughout the dining room. Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib & hand-cut U.S.D.A Prime Steaks, they also offer fresh seafood, cold water lobster tail & succulent shellfish. The 23 oz. Bone-In Rib eye Steak is the "Boss' Favorite" while the Double Cut Filet Mignon runs a close second. Sundance is respected for serving the best food money can buy coupled with value & simplicity – a welcome relief for serious food & steak aficionados. The menu is supported by an award-winning wine list that features over 400 selections focusing on highly allocated Napa Valley Cabernets & Sonoma Pinot Noirs. Exceptional ratings & numerous restaurant awards rank Sundance the Steakhouse as a true dining destination.

Great, cozy place for traditional meal.

We love the delicious prime rib and the attentive service at Sundance, a classic steakhouse. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is professional.

Three of us called at 9:00pm on a Saturday night and asked if they would seat us at 9:45 as we were just leaving a Warriors game in Oakland. They said that they didn't record reservations after 9:30, but if we were a little late they'd still be happy to accommodate us - and accommodate us they did! It has... More

Consistently excellent and consistently overpriced for typical steakhouse fare. I've been here three times in the last two years and the quality has been the same, but the fare is not very creative. Its a steakhouse and pretty much the only independent one in the neighborhood. So if you want traditional and you already know what the other guys have... More

I've been to the Sundance several times over the years, usually with clients and other lawyers. I like steak, but it is not a staple of my diet. This time I went to lunch with a friend and tried one of their Asian salads, and was pleasantly surprised. The service, as usual, was excellent, but so too was the salad.... More

The food is excellent, from the appetizers to the main plates, in particular any of the meat dishes is worth trying. The service is also very professional and friendly. They could just improve the lightning of the rooms.

Came here with 3 friends for happy hour (4:30) and early dinner. We do this about every other month. The early bird dinners are so good. Less expensive dinners are $24 and more expensive is the prime rib and other choices for $28. The "sunset" dinners come with salad, potato/rice, veggie and main. The food is always excellent. It was... More

Server was really not professional, we have been obliged to ask a manager to do their jobs. So we changed to a different place to avoid the bad server. The new server was nice. 177 dollars for 2.

I admit it: I love steak. I love prime rib done right! If you don't like steak you may enjoy the seafood here. I can't address it as my constitution doesn't see eye to eye w shellfish. PROS: great service, every time Great quality food at a good price point (remember this is Palo Alto). Nice wine and spirits selection.... More

My son, ex-husband and I last visited Sundance for my ex-husband's birthday dinner, and it was a good experience. The restaurant itself is a bit dark inside (use your iPhone's flashlight mode to read the menu), but it has a real old school look with lots of dark wood paneling and the feel of a storied past. Their specialty is... More

Sundance Steakhouse is one of the most consistent restaurants in the Palo Alto area. I often go for lunch solo (great to just sit in the bar) or with other work associates and it never disappoints. If just for the burgers it would be worth it, but they have wonderful salads, great clam chowder, lots of standard dishes that rarely... More
