With proven chefs proficient in all of the specialties that make Burmese cuisine sought after by Asian food aficionados, plus a modern, upscale ambiance located in downtown Palo Alto, Rangoon Ruby expects to strike a chord with Silicon Valley diners looking for a fresh, clean approach to one of the worlds great cuisines. Influenced by Indian, Thai and Chinese cooking, the traditional Burmese menu will be complemented by a full bar with signature tropical cocktails including the eponymous Rangoon Ruby, a mid-century libation thought to be the forerunner of todays Cosmopolitan.

We reached at exactly the same time as our reservation and were seated immediately. The drinks were expensive at $12 for a cocktail which was average. The vegetarian version of the appetizer we ordered (flat bread) was more expensive compared to the non-veg version and didnt have the dipping curry that we were expecting but more like vegetable medley. Great food, but the service was substandard. Slow and a bit conceited. Loved the fish chowder soup! Would return again but not at peak dinner service.

I love this new restaurant! Apparently the chef is from Burma Superstar (SF). I have been to both Burma Superstar (SF & Oakland). I must say I like Rangoon Ruby best. Saturday night 8pm and this place is packed and I hope it stays packed cause its my favorite restaurant. We started with the samosas, 4 to an order... Perfectly... More

We went there for team lunch. The place was crowded during lunchtime. The staff is polite and impressive. The food was amazing, I would love to go there again sometime.

I went with a friend and his family. It was my first experience of Burmese food, so I was pleasantly surprised. The minor quibbles first: It's very busy and crowded so make sure to book ahead. The waiter was friendly and helpful. However despite having to wait for up to 25 mins for two of the dishes, we felt were... More

Well it's not that new, but we tried several times to stop by. BUSY, long wait. Finally we went there a few weeks ago and still NO table. However, we were offered a spot in the bar, which we gladly accepted. Very friendly service. Offered us drinks right away, and food service was friendly and prompt. Got the fermented tea leaf... More

Rangoon Ruby is a must try restaurant both because the food is excellent (try the tea leaf salad and pumpkin pork) but also because it is hard to find Asian cuisine with definite potential for becoming all the rage. Service was good and the restaurant is elegant and cosy. Lots of attention to detail by management/owners.

Probably the best and most interesting food I've had in Palo Alto. Ate here 5x (?!) in the last couple weeks, influenced others in the lobby of my hotel and brought coworkers here. Staff is super friendly, treated me as a regular on my second visit...and...they put dry ice in cocktails! ♥

Had such a good dinner on Saturday with the wife, we went back on Sunday with a large group. Both nights the food was fantastic and the place was buzzing - even on Sunday. Highly recommend

Great ambience. Great service. Good place to visit in Palo Alto if you want different cuisine. Burmese cuisine is one of our favorites. The food was good but we may order differently next time. The tea leaf salad is a classic, but is different from Mandalay in San Francisco in that this actually has lettuce. The garlic noodles were eggless,... More
