Came for Sunday brunch. Sat outside....not sure if that's why we had difficulty getting our waitress' attention. Food was good...not sure if it's worth the wait (~1 hr)....

The gourmet ghetto on California Avenue is crowded with restaurants but I believe we picked one of the best. This small French Bistro had lots of ambience and some excellent food. A complementary cup of zucchini, bread and water came immediately to the table. We split a tasty butter lettuce. For our main courses, I enjoyed the beef filet mignon... More

Brilliant small French restaurant in the busy Calif. Ave. corridor; delicious food, meticulously prepared, distinctive and Nouvelle. The mussels are especially good, but I also love the steaks and the stroganoff. Ask to meet Max, the owner-- his wine selections are terrific. Not too pricey. Be sure to make a reservation in advance-- it's a small bistro, and fills up... More

This is a great restaurant: one of Palo Alto's best. Brunches are particularly good, and you shouldn't leave without a beignet. The service is excellent and the whole experience is happy-making!

The food sounded great on the menu, but the flavoring was very blah. Nice staff! We would not go there again.

Came here with friends at 6:30 on a Sunday evening. With reservations, we got right in but the reservations really were mandatory as the place filled up quickly. Service was excellent from the moment we arrived and we really did feel like we were sitting in a bistro in Paris. Appetizers were very good. My husband had coquille St. Jacque... More

My wife and I made reservations early to try to avoid a crowd later on because it was my 71st birthday. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was empty and when the next 4 people came in they seated them right next to us. Why? I have no idea. The tables are only one foot apart and I was forced... More

My son was headed back to college in the midwest for the winter term and wanted "one last meal" of the sort of food he can't find where he goes to school. He suggested Pastis and I'm always happy to eat at this charming tiny bistro on California Avenue. It was 2:00 in the afternoon on Sunday and it was... More
