Bon Vivant is a restaurant in Palo Alto serving French cuisine. The space is attractive and is not fancy or stuffy but does feel a bit special. + Nice selection of wine and champagne + Nice variety of French dishes featured on the menu + Food good but not great, only let down by poor cuts/ingredients - Service can be... I used to spend most of my summers in Cote D'Azure. I'm European and know something about French and Italian cuisine. This place is actually really good for my standard. Always surprised that locals don't get how good this place is.

Fantastic! I came with my wife for dinner on a Thursday night. Mother-in-law agreed to watch the kiddies and give us a date night. Before catching a late movie, we had a lovely and romantic dinner at Bon Vivant. Everything was fresh, delicious and beautiful. We both liked the decor - elegant without being stuffy. But for me, the food... More

We had brunch at Bon Vivant several months ago. It's a very nice space, and the host/waiter was really terrific. The menu was quite nice too. Unfortunately, the food was really lacking. One diner had the rabbit terrine and really found it lacking with some unusual spices that didn't work with rabbit. I had the eggs Benedict which might have... More

What made this a 5 star trip was the service. The staff went out of their way to treat our daughter like a princess for her 16th birthday. Four of us had few appetizers, three entrees and two desserts. The standouts were the pork chop, crab salad and Grand Marnier souffle. We enjoyed the Paris feel and quiet atmosphere. I... More

We went to Bob Vivant on a Saturday evening 6 45 reservations maybe two or three tables occupied not a busy night. Started with oysters on the half shell which were excellent, followed by beet salad also very good. Entre of duck breast was very good unfortunately rabbit overcooked and returned. Service slow, but friendly. Waiter Frank paired wines, which... More

This is just a lovely spot for a romantic dinner. They have a great wine list and a lot of interesting cocktails to get things off to a nice start. The food was amazing: I started with a delicate chestnut soup and my companion loved her scallops. We both had duck (sorry - can't review more dishes, since we were... More

I found the best happy hour deal in Palo Alto so far. They have an unusual cocktail selection. I tried their Lillette cocktail. Also I like their pate selection. Superb, very fresh house-made. My business meeting turned into something very enjoyable. Very elegant place and good ambiance too. Certainly this will be my meeting place.

There are many things to love about Bon Vivant: the outside tables are wonderful, reminiscent of cafés in Paris, and the service is very good. If they pick up the food a notch, they could become a destination. We started with the oysters, which were clean and fresh, and the mignonette sauce was perfectly balanced. Next up was the Amuse... Ok, there probably are better restaurants (and I have not tried them ALL), but Bon Vivant is up there on the list of top 1% of the ones I tried. From the moment you walk in you can forget your worries and let yourself be carried away by the nirvana of great food made of fresh local ingredients; excellent presentation;... More
