Excellent French cuisine

This was our fourth visit to Bon Vivant. We brought our own bottle of wine with a corkage fee of $25, a little higher than most restaurants around here. Beef Stroganoff a la Rus was to die for. So was Marie Antoinette dessert. It is hard to surprise me with a dessert, but they did it. Very nice place overall. Definitely worth multiple trips.

I'd highly recommend a meal at Bon Vivant if you're into French cuisine. A great selection of wines and interesting menu. The rabbit, foie gras, scallops and filet mignon are a must try. The restaurant by itself is off University Ave, and hence conveniently located. Has a very cozy feel.

With busy work schedules it can be tough for my wife and I to get out and gave a relaxing date night. While the restaurant is pricy, it is well worth it. Great wine list, the beef tartar was delicious, and both our entrées were well balanced with flavor.

i was amazed when looking for a reservation last minute on a Friday night that one was available at the time I wanted. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived and we were seated at a small table next to the window. The dining room was quite nice, but the style of cooking was 'old school'. I started with... Had a great meal here. French bistro dishes that were excellent - once we got them. Very slow and inattentive despite there being few people in the restaurant.

I don't know how I missed this place, but I'm glad that I finally found it. With all the dining options in PA, I was pleased to discover something both distinctive and delicious. I started with a Butter Lettuce and Prawn salad and then moved on to Pheasant for my main course. Both were beautifully presented - Pheasant with royal... More

Bon Vivant is a restaurant in Palo Alto serving French cuisine. The space is attractive and is not fancy or stuffy but does feel a bit special. + Nice selection of wine and champagne + Nice variety of French dishes featured on the menu + Food good but not great, only let down by poor cuts/ingredients - Service can be... I used to spend most of my summers in Cote D'Azure. I'm European and know something about French and Italian cuisine. This place is actually really good for my standard. Always surprised that locals don't get how good this place is.

Fantastic! I came with my wife for dinner on a Thursday night. Mother-in-law agreed to watch the kiddies and give us a date night. Before catching a late movie, we had a lovely and romantic dinner at Bon Vivant. Everything was fresh, delicious and beautiful. We both liked the decor - elegant without being stuffy. But for me, the food... More
