This is just a lovely spot for a romantic dinner. They have a great wine list and a lot of interesting cocktails to get things off to a nice start. The food was amazing: I started with a delicate chestnut soup and my companion loved her scallops. We both had duck (sorry - can't review more dishes, since we were... More

I found the best happy hour deal in Palo Alto so far. They have an unusual cocktail selection. I tried their Lillette cocktail. Also I like their pate selection. Superb, very fresh house-made. My business meeting turned into something very enjoyable. Very elegant place and good ambiance too. Certainly this will be my meeting place.

There are many things to love about Bon Vivant: the outside tables are wonderful, reminiscent of cafés in Paris, and the service is very good. If they pick up the food a notch, they could become a destination. We started with the oysters, which were clean and fresh, and the mignonette sauce was perfectly balanced. Next up was the Amuse... Ok, there probably are better restaurants (and I have not tried them ALL), but Bon Vivant is up there on the list of top 1% of the ones I tried. From the moment you walk in you can forget your worries and let yourself be carried away by the nirvana of great food made of fresh local ingredients; excellent presentation;... More

No need to find your passport. Just head to Bon Vivant and feel like you've traveled across the ocean. The best meal I've had in months. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed. The service was efficient, friendly, but unobtrusive. And the food! I had the wild mushroom tart and salmon on a bed of chard with a fried potato cake.... More

We had brunch here- everything was great. The prices are a bit high and I was not impressed with the Bloody Mary. However the eggs Benedict was VERY good.

We loved it! A bit pricey, but it's totally worth it. We are French and were delighted to find this restaurant, at a time when we were feeling French-cuisine homesick! Also has good wine. Friendly and chic atmosphere.

I have been back several times in the past few weeks for business dinners--and this is simply the best quality food in Palo Alto, by a lot. The duck breast (main course) is outstanding in its flavor and presentation. The wine list by the glass is quite extensive. The steamed mussel appetizer has incredible flavors and the mussels are perfectly... More

Palo Alto has a dearth of good, or maybe even acceptable, restaurants. A friend recommended Bon Vivant and I went there with a colleague. What a nice surprise. The place was not busy on a Wednesday night so the noise level was low and we could hear each other. The service was prompt, the wine recommendation good, plates cleared when... More

Situated in one of Palo Alto's quieter streets this restaurant sets a great impression on entry, warm, comfortable, but not too French. The menu also offer good promise of fine things to come, alas these aspirations were dashed by under-cooked food, confused service, insufficient restroom facilities and a hi-tech/lo-tech approach to the final check. After ordering appetisers (the highlight of... More
