If I had this place near where I lived, I'd never eat anywhere else. Wonderful quality food, simply prepared and expertly served. Broad range of wines and other drinks - and the chance to try their bread - what's not to be wonderful!

We come to this area every year to stay with family so are all 'regular' visitors to this restaurant. Had lunch there yesterday and, although the food was lovely and staff made an effort to seat us outdoors in the shade, the review veers towards the negative because of the problems getting the check at the end of our meal.... Owned by the same folks as the The Village Pub, its common roots show in many good ways. Service inside or out is great even when they are extremely busy (weekends). Dishes are unusual, fresh and well proportioned. Wine selection is lovely. Bring your dog if you decide to dine outdoors. Reservations are a must Thurs-Sun for dinner. Parking can... More

We had a delightful lunch here. Food was fresh and delicious, service fast and friendly. Loved it. Roasted chicken salad was superb.

Was looking forward to trying this place for weekend breakfast for a while. Arrived at around 11 and was told evenso there were many empty (however dirty) tables it would be around 15 - 20 min wait, as we needed a table for 5 inclusive of a high chair. No big deal we walked down to the bookstore and awaited... More

I was taken to lunch at the Mayfield Bakery & Cafe by a co-worker, which is located in the Town & Country mall in Palo Alto. We arrived at 11:30 AM on a Friday, but were told that there were no tables available other than outside (I guess we should have made a reservation). We were seated outside and the... More

I get that we were paying for the location and the atmosphere, but the prices were still pretty excessive ($10 for oatmeal? $12 for 2 eggs?). Everyone enjoyed their meals, but it never seemed worth what we were paying for good, not great, food. The unusual orders were a burger that had smoke dominate the taste throughout. This was interesting... More

We had the smoked salmon club, pulled chicken sandwich, kale salad, and pumpkin soup. The Kale Salad was good and the pumpkin soup was delicious. Pulled chicken sandwich was okay and the salmon club was greasy and came with undercooked bacon - jiggled with white fat and pale pink meat. I brought this to the attention of the manager/expediter and... More

Went for dinner with 4 friends. Food was very tasty, but portions were all on the small side, for our taste. Can't argue with the quality, though. Salad, ribs, fish and burger were all very good. Will try this again, for lunch.

This place is NOT your ordinary Muffin and Coffee breakfast bakery. White table cloths, the smell of an almond wood burning grille gave a hint of what could come out if the kitchen. The entrees are complex yet very wholesome in that special California way. I had the cured beef hash with poached eggs. Served on a pile of barley... More
