Hard to top - really hard

Thanks to my friend, Henri I had the privilege to discover this place. Now, I'm passing on the recommendation to everyone who appreciates the art of cooking. Don't go to the Baumê if you are looking for the best steak in town. You want to be in the mood to discover new things. Bruno Chemel is an... read more

Me and my hubby went here. Loved it. Modern French cuisine at it´s best. We had the tasting menu which included 6 courses. Things we tried were Sous Vide Beef which was a highlight. Good creative wine list. Good place for those foodies serious about their food.

I don't really know what to say about this place. It's a disservice to call it fancy or special or innovative -- it's much more than that. It isn't actually like eating a meal at a restaurant. I went with my mom for a special birthday lunch... we are two "seasoned" restaurant-goers, and this was an absolute first for both... More

This is a foodies' restaurant! And the food is exceptional. The wine pairings are very expensive and only so-so at best; one of our wines had turned (OK, that can happen to anyone). Wine by the glass was $35. Seriously, they need a wine steward who is familiar with California wines and mark them up 2-2.5 times retail if they... More

It's hard to find truly creative high-end dining in the Bay Area (despite its reputation) but intimate, tucked-away little Baume never disappoints. Service is top-notch, pairings are on point, cuisine is inventive and joyous. If you're a true foodie, don't miss it.

Dined for the second time at Baume. Same chef, but many changes in the menu. Much less molecular gastronomy (spheres, foams, frozen ices/nitrogen), which made dining here very fun. But the food is still creative and amazing! Our favorites included: - the Amuse Bouche: two little spoons of flavor, one of melon cassis sorbet and the other of kohlrabi/avocado. Would... More

We love to go to the restaurants with Prixe Fixe meals because we don't have to think what would go well with the wines. We've been to Bijouex in Dallas (my second), Atelier Crenn, Manresa, Gary Danko, Le Papillon, Azure in Hawaii, and Baume tops them because of their creative gastronomic style (hope I said that right). I am a... More

Baumé exceeded our expectations, which were high, given the number of exceptional reviews. Each of the six courses was beautifully prepared and presented. The servers kept a perfect pace during the meal. I very much liked the idea of surprise at each course. The conception of each dish was artistic and the many flavors harmonized in unexpected ways. The beef... More

Went to lunch at Baume' for my birthday. Six creative, delicious and beautiful courses with wine pairings. Flawless service and ambience. In a long life luckily punctuated by wonderful food, this ranks with the very best.

First off Baume is located on neighborhood shopping street in Palo Alto, not the main downtown, so it's fairly quiet on the streets. This is a dining experience. It is one of those places where presentation, timing and taste are all orchestrated. The menu was a list of ingredients - not courses, very clever. Each course and pairing were thoughtfully... More
