Description: what makes a great pizza? It starts with a great oven! Ours is an authentic wood- fired masonry oven where the fire has burned constantly since the day we opened. Modern gas and electric ovens cannot produce the intense heat needed – over 800 degrees – to achieve the crispy, smoky crust that our oven provides. With dough made fresh daily in-house, our goal is to make the best pizza in Palm Springs!the space. The challenge? How do you build distinctive restaurants in unique urban spaces? Our original location in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, DC was a Chinese grocery in a structure 15 feet wide and three stories tall. Our newest location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington was a 90 year old vending machine warehouse. matchbox Palm Springs was opened in 2005 in a second floor location with spectacular views of Mt St. Jacinto and Palm Canyon Drive. Our partnership group, with backgrounds in restaurant operations and construction simply have a great time designing and building all of our projects!

I have been going to the Matchbox for years and a card caring customer. For visitors to Palm Springs, the location is perfect, the ambiance is Palm Springs casual and the menu should fit most tastes. The pizza oven puts out the best, but there are varied entree dishes. The beer menu is fun to review with some quirky names... More

We stopped in 3 times over our 5 day stay, it was that yummy! I would highly recommend the tempura roll and, surprisingly, the cheese pizza. Both super flavorful. Overall, service was pretty good but when our bartender was clearly overwhelmed, Henry stepped in to help her/us out by bringing share plates and flatware. He gets a shout out because... More

We loved the the pizza, had the sausage and onion pizza (minus the onion). Very thin crust, delicious sausage with a little spicy tomato sauce. The small was perfect for two people with beers.

Service held this place down. Had to ask for ice several times, and even with it being happy hour with the pizza half price we were not told that it only means the small ones. We split a large and no deal for us. Must say the food was good. Get a table on the balcony to watch the street below.

I have been coming to Palm Springs all of my life, always seeing Matchbox, but it took me years to actually sit down and eat here. I can now say that I wish I had gone earlier! I was with a large group and we shared salads and pizza. The food is great! Super fresh and flavorful salads, and the... More

We went to dinner at Matchbox on Wednesday evening after a long day at our Company's Annual Business Conference day 2. We were all blown away by the service, food, atmosphere, and overall experience. We had pizza as an appetizer, then the group ordered a variety of entrees. To a person, all said their meal was excellent all the way... More

Matchbox offers great food with a fun atmosphere downtown Palm Springs. I suggest making reservations as it can get busy. We had a reservation, but we still got seated about 15 minutes late. The food was delicious and you can't go wrong with the pizzas. The service was a bit slow, but it was due to how busy the restaurant... More

We decided to eat here after the reviews and responses from Matchbox for any reviews less than 5. Some funny, some a bit snarky, but all showing they really care about their food and service. We ate here twice last week and would have rated the restaurant as average our first visit, solely because of our server, Errol. The entire... More

The outdoor seating ambiance attracted us on our first night in PS. Just happened that there was a happy hour special before 6. We had 3 of the $5 appetizers; the sausage and cheese crostini was very unique and excellent. We enjoyed the fish tacos and calamari as well. We had 2 $5 glasses of wine and our total tab... More
