This is not a large restaurant but the attention to detail and schnitzel is beyond compare. The host is outstanding at recommendations and making you feel as though you are the only one there. I would highly recommend not only for the schnitzel (a true work of culinary art) but the seasonal menu items as well.

When in Palm Springs, you have to make this one of your stops! i Had dinner with friends at Johannes. The service was excellent, the wiener schnitzel was prepared in several different ways. I had the lemon with capers, down right excellent! Couldn't even come close to eating the size of the entree. But had them pack it up and... More

Stopped for a drink here and sat at the five chair bar. Vodka tonic and vodka martini were promptly served. Pleasant experience talking to a couple at the nearby table. Restaurant menu looked good but we were meeting friends elsewhere!

I went here with a small group, there were two others. I ordered something beef related. I don't remember, but it was a chunk of meat, and it was amazing. Everyone else agreed it was good, but they weren't the biggest fans of what they ordered. One was the curry, I tasted it and agreed it wasn't that great. I... More

Oh boy airplane food. Once knew folks who loved it so much they kept it in house for quick if not nutritious and handy meals. However, that is not constituting great meal. With that thought I differ from all who would call this good food. We came away with but one word. Terrible. Return? No. Recommend? No.

Downtown Palm Springs has many fine restaurants, each with its own identity and special offerings. If you should be in the mood for Wiener Schnitzel then you must visit Johannes. Of course Chef Johannes Bacher’s menu contains more than just Schnitzels, but for me, it is what I order every time I visit his establishment. The food, service and ambience... More

Palm Springs is known for it's adoration of the 1950's. In this restaurant they have taken it too far. I ordered Seafood soup and NY Steak. The soup had been pre-made in some sad kitchen and frozen. By the time it reached my table it was 1/2 defrosted with the leak part frozen and part mushy. Asked the server to... More

This was my second time at Johannes. Beautiful inside and out, elegant while still being Palm Spring (your sandals and polo are fine), this is a truly wonderful restaurant. There is always a seasonal fresh salad and appetizer but the real thrill are the main courses. I am sure they are all good but I have only tasted the lamb,... More

From the savory herb spread for the baguettes, to the delicious profiteroles for dessert and everything in between, Johannes really delivers. Also enjoyed the tasty house salad which was large enough to split. Even though Johannes specializes in wiener schnitzel, they do a variety of other international entrees very well. Hubby had the chicken curry and he kept saying that... More

The setting - casual yet elegant; at least 3 dining areas in the restaurant; tables not too close together. The service - excellent. We had the same server that I have always had - she is consistently courteous and polite and efficient. The food - for appetizer, I sampled one of the specials of the days - oyster cocktail. It...
