Lunch with the ladies

second luncheon this winter on the a/c porch of this famous old place. Food was great. Service was old world. Price about $15 pp seemed right for the place and quality of meals. Place has a seedy charm - but charm has a bit of a smell in spots.

It is so nice to still be able to find a formal dining experience in the old style. Although there are many people who have no class and still dress inappropriately, this is one of those restaurants where you feel appropriately dressed in suit and tie. The wait staff are formally dressed. You have to have one of the dishes... More

We went to Melvyn's for a 60th birthday celebration on April 2nd and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The table side service was very attentive and the food quality was excellent. I had the veal and it was delicious. We all especially enjoyed the "retro" atmosphere. A variety of celebrities have dined and stayed in the hotel attached to this restaurant and... More

Another great lunch experience at Melvins restaurant Palm Springs. Outstanding service and delicious food from an extensive and comprehensive menu of delectable sandwiches, salads, and entrees. Be sure to stop at the bar and have your favorite cocktail served exquisitely by either Bob, David, Randy, Scotty, or Mark. This long established and famous restaurant is not to be missed when... If you are going to Melvyn's expecting to bask in it's previous star studded Hollywood glory you will be disappointed. The stars are gone and actually so is the cache. Melvyn's used to be counted as one of the Palm Springs playgrounds for the rich and famous but they have moved on to be replaced by romantics historians and people... More

i am not sure I would go here for the food alone but wow what a great time we had. My husband and I went with two of our children ages 11 and 13 and my mother in law. MIL had be here 20ish years ago and thought it would be fun to go back and check it out and... More

We were recommended to try Melvyn's for Sunday Brunch. The location is dated and the waiting staff are probably original! The food was poor and who serves eggs benedict with al dente broccoli, carrot puree and scalloped potatoes? The creme brûlée was inedible and tasted very synthetic. The raspberry tart was not a tart and not a desert of this... More

I traveled from New York and eagerly looked forward to my dining experience at Melvyn's, and Melvyn's didn't disappoint in food or service. Robert, our captain, his assistant, and retinue of staff, were top notch professionals, albeit a bit harried and bustling with a busy dinner service. Melvyn's has multiple dining rooms. Immediately after our delicious apps, (mine: a delicious... More

Robin Leach - Rich and Famous had Melvyn's and the Ingleside Inn on his TV program several times. It is a walk back in time. You never know who will walk through the door that is famous. They are known hosting once a month, a famous person. This includes a talk, dinner and Q & A. Music every night at... More
