Zin American Bistro is an attempt to modernize and Americanize the traditional French Bistro concept. With Zin recently receiving 3 ½ stars and a review of “quite possibly the best food for the money in the Coachella Valley” from author Peter Osbaldeston’s Palm Springs Dining Bible, Chef Nicolas Klontz and wine director Mindy Reed have indeed raised the bar of casual fine dining in Palm Springs. Zin has over 200 wines on their list and has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 5 years. With choices from the Kobe Style Beef Burger ($16) and Mussels & Frites($18) to the Rabbit ($25) or a Prime Hanger Steak ($26) there is something for everyone. Be sure to save room for some house made desserts and a glass of port for a perfect finish. Attentive, friendly yet unobtrusive service with Wine Director Reed available to guide you thru her carefully selected wine list and Chef Klontz greeting diners personally between courses make dining at Zin a night to remember.

Great for a Late Dinner

A lot of the restaurants in PalmSprings aren't open very late in the evening. We needed a place for a late dinner after a film last month at the PSIFF, and Zin American Bistro perfectly fit the bill. The chef is thoughtful and creative, even though that is not in great demand in PS. I mean, nobody travels to Palm Springs for the food. But Zin strives and achieves a level of creative food, that would be appreciated more in San Francisco or Seattle. Fortunately it also has excellent location with street seating for people-watchers. And the staff... More

We love Zin! It's such a great, relaxing place to enjoy a perfect meal and a great bottle of wine. The food, service, ambiance are always spot on. We've been going here since the first week they opened and we continue to go back often. It's the perfect location for people watching on the patio while we enjoy a delicious... More

ZIN has been on that busy Palm Canyon Drive corner (shared with Kaiser Grill and Lulu), and it survives because of its great if simple menu and terrific service. There are SO many choices of good restaurants in "downtown" Palm Springs, and it's a joy to be able to recommend one that truly stands out, especially for lunch (the ZIN... More

Food and service were the best we had in Palm Springs. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Food was great starting from the appetizers all the way through to dessert. Not the cheapest place around, but great for a special night out.

Now that we've discovered Zin, we'll be regulars. There were so many wonderful choices on the menu, it was seriously difficult to choose. One of us ordered the prix fixe meal and found it to be an exceptional value. All the food was excellent, and the mushroom truffle soup was to die for. Top that off with impeccable service, reasonable... More

Enjoyed a very nice lunch sitting on the outdoor patio table just next to the street and sidewalk. My companion and I each had the Zin burger which was a well cooked 1/2 pound burger (ordered rare and med-rare) with cheese melted under a salamander. The burger at $10 was reasonably priced and the extra $2.50 for fries makes it... More

We had no reservations on a busy Friday night, yet Zin was graciously able to accommodate us with a table on the outdoor patio. Great people watching while we dined. Server was very helpful with advice re: ordering. I chose the rabbit scaloppini and spouse chose the foie gras (just legalized treat!) and veal chop. Both really good , loved... More

Recommended by the desk clerk at our hotel which turned into a wonderful way to end a stressful day. Had the small plates and chilled white wine. The mini filet with goat cheese wrapped in delicate pastry melted in your mouth.
