Oh la la

Wonderful pastries, good food, nice and friendly service. And don't forget a little something to munch on later!

We stopped by for a quick breakfast quiche before leaving Monterey. We had heard good things about this place. It is a nice little place tucked up in a strip mall. We were immediately greeted when we came in, but immediately noticed that the place doesn't take credit or debit cards...no worries, there's an ATM when you walk in....except it... More

My wife and I have been searching for an authentic French patisserie since our visit to France and have been completely disappointed wherever we go. Finally, we found a spot that gives us that same French flavor and experience. Everything here is excellent, the croissants are amazing, the quiche is divine and their sweet treats we took home for a... More

We were in Carmel over the 4th of July and we're feeling a little left out of the Holiday festivities. We went to Bechler and ordered a fabulous assortment of breads, charcuterie, PASTRY and sides and salads. They packaged it up nicely with all the condiments and plastic cutlery and we headed to the beach for our own picnic. IT... More

We only tried the chocolate covered macaroons, of which we are obsessed (is that correct English?) So, when we got to town and asked around, people said "Go to Bechlers!" The one thing they did get REALLY right is the balance between the heaviness and lightness of the macaroon itself. The BUMMER was that they used a really lame chocolate...totally... More

I am of mixed racial background. Part Pacific Islander with Japanese and German. Also was born in Berlin. I am very fussy about Cake and Pastry having been all over Europe. This Gem of a Bakery is as good as any Bakery I have experienced in Austria, Belgium, Germany or Switzerland. Everything fresh and of high quality unlike the Paris... More

The cappuccino we had was tasty, and the almond croissants were very delicious. The service was good even though it was very crowded the time and day we went. Overall, this would be a place to get some sweets again when we're back in Pacific Grove.

We live around the corner and eat here often. All of the desserts are top notch, moist and not over the top sweet. The coffee is French if you like that dark roast almost burnt taste. They have the best veggie crepes ever! There is also a beautiful view of the water on a clear day, love the indoor garden... More

Everytime we have been in this area, we visit Patisserie Bechler. The pastries are pure French--light, tasty, and flavorful. We ordered pastries and take away soups--potato, clam chowder, and carrot. We were astounded by the quality and tastes of them. In my opinion, Patisserie Bechler is the best bakery in the Monterey Peninsula and one of the best in the... More
