Great food, great service

We have eaten here several times, and we love the food, the great service, and the casual ambiance. They really try to take good care of you, and even when it's been busy, our food was at our table in less time than we expected. Even the house wine is decent. Enjoy a nice meal. Service was quick, you get a bucket of crayons to draw on the table setting, and the food was delicious. Hubby and I each got the clam chowder bread bowl with the garlic and cheese top. It was awesome chowder and the bread was a fabulous addition. The bread bowl was a perfect balance of soft and crunchy. We also... More

Just about every restaurant in the Monterey area offers clam chowder in bread bowls but not all are kid friendly. Not only does Vivolo's offer great chowder, but my kids love coloring on the paper tablecloth while they're waiting for their food to be served.

We enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere of this charming spot. We had shrimp scampi and chicken marsala. They came with mashed sweet potatoes (but with no bread) and were excellent. The bread pudding dessert was outstanding. We noticed, incidentally, that most of the diners that night were East Asian or Asian-American.

Im disappointed in YELP mainly because I checked the reviews there before going. I came here due to "good" reviews. This place is clearly, completely understaffed. (Staff was extremely rushed and not attentive since there was 1 (waiter/busser) tending the entire side of the restaurant. I went on Monday around 5pm.. Waited 10 min to get a drink order, another... This place is walking distance from the Monterey Bay Aquarium which made it convenience for our group since we didn't want to wait 1 hour for the wait in the cafe inside. They tout their chowder bread bowls, which I didn't get but I did get their soup/salad/sandwich combo. The chowder was decent, but the shrimp sandwich was so good.... More

I have eaten here every time I come to PG, and the clam chowder is like a warm hug! They offer the most amazing hot cheddar garlic bread, that is perfect with your soup. Our group also ate sand dabs, and shrimp scampi, all of which were delicious, and very generous servings.

Great little spot just around the corner from the Monterey Aquarium. Nice simple tables with great service. Can't really leave a review for the main dinner dishes like Cioppino and pasta, because we went for the cheaper fares. A 10$ clam chowder, 16 dollars pulled crab sandwich, plus fish & chips from the kids menu. 4$ concha y toro chard.... More

We returned to Vivolo's after many years when we first ate here. Things have really not changed since but in a good way. It's still a very simple restaurant, no frills really. But the food is quite good, and that is the main reason to visit. There were four of us in our party, and although we did make dinner... More

My son and I had lunch here. I had the Albacore tuna salad on wheat bread grilled w/ provolone cheese -- yummy. I like that you could choose fries or salad with the sandwich. I had the salad, and it was good. Son had the house-roasted turkey sandwich with salad also. We each had the clam chowder to start. Nice... More
