First looked inside, it looked like a mostly empty standard California coffee house, then we discovered the almost filled, and larger outdoors eating patio area. They do only breakfast and lunch, breakfast served all day. My spouse and I both got their Al B.Core Tuna Sandwich, which were great. All sandwiches come with lots of home fried potatoes (Greasy), Salad... More

Totally worth the wait. The amount of food they give you for what you pay is awesome. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend this restraunt to get your day started.

Food quality and prep were excellent. I had the carnitas scramble; my wife had the turkey and avocado benedict. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Both were prepared as ordered; both arrived promptly after we placed our order. Service was very good. Definitely recommend to others!

With a nice hidden outdoor space, friendly service, good food at a good price, what more could you ask for? Stopped here after our Segway tour after a reco from Tim – one of our guides. We were seated immediately and had water, coffee and menus within seconds. My husband got the French dip and I had the oriental salad.... More

Having previously dined at First Awakenings for lunch and having heard from many other about this place, we stopped in again. There were nine of us in our group and it was early afternoon. The place was packed but the wait was well worth it. We did break into two groups in order to be seated sooner. I was with... More

My favorite meal is breakfast so I am very picky about it. This place has delicious carnitas eggs benedict! It's not on the menu, but they have it everyday so just ask. Bring your appetite, everything is very filling. They carnitas are so tender, the tomatoes nicely balance the rich and savory hollandaise sauce. Everyone else loved the breakfast (omelet... More

We visit Monterey at least a couple of times a month, when we are there our first stop in the morning is always First Awakenings. The breakfast there is amazing,we always sit outside to enjoy the people and view. The staff are always friendly. We have been going there for many years and my children always love it there.

We were seated right away, but it was awhile before someone took our order. We were about to leave but were so glad we didn't. The breakfast crepes were amazing, and the raspberry coconut pancake was delicious. Be willing to wait. It's worth it!

We have been visiting First Awakenings since it open. Once you sample the freshly prepared meal, you'll wish you had a First Awakenings back home. It has a veteran staff that is friendly and truly professional. Order anything on the menu, you can't go wrong.
