Wonderful touch for celebrating our anniversary!

What a great meal! We were celebrating our 5th anniversary and the restaurant printed out a special menu that said Happy 5th Anniversary! Loved the crab and avocado salad--highlight of the meal. Not bad by any means, but it did not live up to expectations. Hard to get a good wine recommendation in spite of a great cellar.

The Dungeness crab salad was filled with tasty crab nestled on a bed of avocado. The spicy ginger vinaigrette was overpowering and we removed the salad from the dish and enjoyed it more. The other appetizer, baked gorgonzola, curried greens, golden chutney and spice pecans had too many clashing flavors even with the dressing served on the side. For mains... More

It is a year since our last visit to the USA and Monterey. To our delight, at Passionfish the standard is still right up there, amongst the best eating venues... We cannot be the only ones to think so as, in our absence, they were voted 2015 Best Restaurant in Monterey County as well as 2015 Best Restaurant in Pacific... More

We've been fans of Passionfish for many years (see previous review), but our latest visit was disappointing. The restaurant is best known for its commitment to sustainable fish and its policy with regard to wine pricing (originally 2x retail and now allegedly 50%-80%). Sad to say, the preparation is spotty -- the Sea Scallop appetizer was very good but the... More

One of the best fish 'houses' on the Peninsula. Very helpful staff who juggle both tourists and locals with kindness and patience. Passionfish aligns closely with the Seafood Watch program and supports Pacific Grove as a community. Food always very fresh with interesting and creative changes to the menu weekly. Wait staff very knowledgeable about the fish on the menu... More

We love this place. Can't visit Pacific Grove without eating at Passionfish. We have recommended this restaurant to many people over the years and love eating there. Looking forward to each visit.

What fabulous food! I had a fantastic sturgeon dish, my wife's lamb breast was tender and tasty. Every course had great, innovative flavors and was perfectly prepared. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The food is of a quality of the best restaurants in San Francisco, and much more reasonably priced. Passionfish is by far the best restaurant... We had seen the reviews and were intrigued by the sample menu online. We were looking for a great culinary experience and we certainly found it! Fresh, sustainable seafood and local ingredients prepared correctly and with well thought out complementary flavors. Especially enjoyed the Striped Bass Crudo with Pomegranate Granita and Seaweed Ponzu and the Fresh Scallop and Risotto. The... More

A local PG resident suggested we eat here. It did not disappoint. Hubby had halibut and I had the crab avocado stack. The crab was mixed with aoli making it more of a mixture than lump crab, but it was still very good. Portions were filling. We ate at 5pm, right as they opened. The staff were extremely attentive.
