My husband and I like to dine well and get a little dressed up when we vacation. We were staying in Monterey, and Passionfish was recommended to us as someplace we could do both. The exterior isn't much to get excited about and parking is on the street, but everything else about the place was great. The wine list is... More

After a truly spicy seafood stew and trout ceviche, we had had farm-reared sturgeon and tilapia. All excellent and extremely well flavoured, and we had great service. We didn't book a table (Monday night, late October) , but were lucky to get a table as it was very busy, and rightly so.

This restaurant is known for seafood dishes but we noticed other entrees on the menu. Limited menu plus nightly specials which was okay with us. Great wine list plus corkage was $20.00. Can't go wrong here, so if in the area try it.

We had a wonderful meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. Despite a packed house which seems to be the norm, the staff provided the perfect combination of attentiveness and distance so we could thoroughly enjoy our fine meal. The wine list is both well chosen and promotes smaller, local finds at very reasonable prices. Overall, one of the best meals... More

Had a pleasant time. Service was excellent. The markup on wines is minimal, and the list extensive. The Monterey wine was enjoyed even by my french guest. Had avocado-crab salad, which was excellent. The Rockfish was also delicious, except the rice looked and tasted like something that was scraped up from the bottom of a pot.

My husband and I were visiting Monterey during our anniversary trip to California and this was our favorite dinner of the trip. The wine list is superb. The sturgeon and rockfish entre dishes were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Highly recommend!

Group of six of us shared salads, starters and entrees. All were delicious, salads were over the top fresh. Entrees were all seafood and one lamb - mouthwatering! Noise level was a bit too high when first seated and it was hot and stuffy. They opened a door which help a lot and after a few tables emptied out it... More

Passionfish has been around a long time now. (Read their excellent review in the Monterey County Weekly's "Best Of" issue.) I have been there twice, and the food & service were fine--sustainable fish, all is correct. Yet, we were unmoved by our experience. Perhaps the room we were dining in was just too open? We had diners close to us... More

First time here, years ago, was good food but very noisy. Nothing to fault this time. We were seated in the larger room, which was very pleasant. The scallop app was superb -- perfectly cooked scallop atop a crispy, cheesy flattened arancini with capers and white grapes. Fried oysters were topped with a crunchy mint-accented kimchee -- Korea meets Vietnam.... More
