On Mondays this place offers a five course dinner for a flat rate ($22) and the only choices you have is the main entre (pork loin or salmon) and the wine (extra, but not expensive). We enjoyed the dinner even though I would rate the food as good-not-great. Partly because of personal taste (eggplant is not something I care for,... More

Even though they have gf listed on their menu- it does no make them safe for celiacs. I read many excellent reviews elsewhere for this restaurant. The food was delicious but does not rate high with me because I was sick afterwards. Place is small and tables are very close together.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant for a very good rustic Italian meal, they were right! We went on a Sunday evening with a reservation. We were seated promptly and had great service throughout the meal. We shared the mussels, so plump and full of flavour! I had the lamb ragout pasta and my husband had the sausage and cannellini beans.... More

Cool workers lunch. Under 10$ for 2 kinds of pasta and a salad. Salad was good. Creamy pasta was so so but slow cooked meat sauce was amazing. Service was a little strange. Had to ask for the second pasta dish.

We walked in on a Monday evening and were pleasantly surprised with the Monday night features, a 5 course meal for $22 a person. Starting with an appetizer followed by a yummy soup, scrumptious salad, yummy pasta with romanesco finished with an entree of either chicken or seafood. All were fantastic and a price tag that could not be beat!... More

Went there 6/7 on the recommendation of friends. When we arrived, there were 10 to 15 people waiting. Fortunately, we had a reservation and were seated within minutes. Il Vecchio is busy and noisy, but very friendly. My wife and I both had pasta and she had a special soup. Everything was very good. If you want a quiet romantic... More

The food was okay. Nothing to get excited about. I had the cannelloni which had pools of butter floating on top of the sauce which was a little unappetizing. My husband had the pesto tortellini. Again it was just okay. The place was very casual, lots of kids at nearby tables. Service was fine, no complaints but no compliments either.... More

Our server was kind and attentive until the food arrived and then never returned. I had to chase him down to obtain our check. In his defense he was great to the surrounding tables. he even offered them all the dessert menu! The food was such a disappointment after having read such encouraging reviews! I couldn't get them to take... More

Everything was spot on at this restaurant. Wines are well priced. We shared everything family style, but the outstanding dishes were the gnocchi, lamb skewer, and fish. I'm sure there are the classic tomato based pastas, but you are getting much more unique delicious food than your traditional Italian restaurant. Very well priced as well! We were stuffed to the... Yummy caprese buffano salad, Pasta with lamb ragu, fish with pesto. A full house yet such a pleasant hush. The friendly owner pointed out thick baffles in the ceiling. Why don't we have that in San Francisco restaurants??
