Drove out there to try their publicized lunch. There are some meats I don't eat and found them totally inflexible in serving me. I'll stick to the great Italian restaurants in Carmel.

I went there on a "family day", when there were two entrees that everybody shared and that was all that was on the menu. The food was good, however there wasn't any flexibility on how it was prepared. Couldn't even get cheese on top because "thats not how it is traditionally done". Good value, good food, arrogant, inflexible owner.

While visiting Monterey my husband and I tried Il Vecchio's Monday night five course tasting. To begin with the restaurant was very accommodating of the fact that I don't eat pork or shellfish (I called ahead, but they were very friendly/easy going about it). The tasting itself was a lot of fun. While the quality of the courses varied (some... More

Went with 3 friends for dinner. Recommended by a fellow patron at Pebble Resort. Wow. Not one thing was average. Excellent homemade italian. Highly highly recommend from a serious foodie. The cream pesto is a must. Rigatoni with pork is amazing.

Some friends introduced us to family style dining at Il Vecchio which takes place every Tuesday evening. It is early seating (you have to be seated at 5:30 - although it's worth it to get there a little early in order to partake of the anti-pasti - and must leave your table at 6:45 in order for them to serve... We came in on a Saturday relatively early (6.30) and the place was full but we were seated quite soon. The atmosphere was great and the food very good. We had a very small child with us. They were very considerate and the manager or owner (I don't know) was really attentive and friendly to him, I would love to... More

il Vecchio has a great workers lunch on weekdays, it's a set menu and served to you from the pan. Usually includes a salad and two pasta dishes for under $10. Dinner has a good variety of dishes all prepared with quality and fresh ingredients in both traditional Italian and some lighter Californian styles. There's a good selection of wine... More

Some of the best Italian food in the Monterey area. The service is fine. This place gets crowded so be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation. Great pastas, excellent muscles, amazing meatballs.

At first I was skeptical about the new Italian restaurant in town, but it has quickly become what I consider to be the best restaurant in Pacific Grove. Il Vecchio has an incredible decor created with reclaimed wood from an old church on the East Coast. This is rustic at its best. There are four different dining experiences to be... More

Have been here many, many times. Never disappointed! Lunch, dinner, special occasions, you name it! We have tried the fixed menus as well, which are always great and always have vegetarian options. You can't beat the prices - especially on their yummy wines. The ambience is lovely, service is consitently good. Sometimes the owner walks around serving soup (a nice... More
