The food is great!! We ate there for lunch then went back the next day for breakfast. The biscuits and gravy are really good. The pancakes are good too. There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed everything we ordered. We are from LA and going back to Monterey next weekend and we can't wait to go back to... More

When I think about the overall experience at Holly's, I sort of just chuckle to myself and feel a bit flabbergasted. There were so many things that were great, but some other things that were strange and bad. But let's start with what's most important - the food! I ordered the 2x2x2 (eggs, bacon & pancakes). I'm not usually a... More

I love the food and menu here, but the downfall is tight space between tables, and the staff is particular about getting you to sit where they want you or else they scowl. And no substitutions, so you need to be happy with what they give you. But the food is fresh and they have great options.

My husband & I had a late breakfast at Holly's two of the three mornings that we were in Monterey, and it was fantastic both times! We were seated right away, service was friendly & fast and the portions were quite large. First time I had the "special scramble" which is somewhat of a scrambled omelette with ham, onions &... More

My husband and I have been here several times and always liked it. So we went this morning for breakfast for my birthday. I think the waitress must have been on drugs or something because how else do you explain bad service like her's? Walked in, she took our order. I got pancakes and a side of bacon. My husband... Slow and grumpy. Not what you want in the morning. Seated us near the door ("You will sit here") and then complained to us when we didn't want the door open and the cold morning breeze on our backs. Got the order wrong and were just generally unpleasant. In fairness I have to say that the food was good, above... More

A small, corner, lively and upbeat cafe! We like it so much, we specifically ate breakfast there two days in a row, even with a free breakfast at our hotel! This place rocks! A pleasant experience, and wonderful food!

Early Sunday breakfast visit was excellent in spite of light staffing. However, light traffic at that time calls for light staffing. Rhonda was everywhere, and never stopped moving. Greeting customers, refilling coffee, taking orders, talking with kitchen staff, and making sure everything is in it's place for the day ahead. Obvious concern, care and responsibility for the cafe and the... More

We are staying in an AirBnB so breakfasts are on our own. Our hosts recommended Holly's and yup we are digging these full breakfasts. The Portuguese sausage and eggs was my deal and walnut bread toast was tops. Coffee mugs never drop down past 1/2 full and the waitstaff are super great. We tanked up here every morning of our... We drove by this place a couple of times during out trip and decided to have breakfast there our last morning. Big mistake - we should have been going there all along. Best coffee in ages. Wonderul friendly staff. Locally owned. Cinnamon french toast was outstanding. Even the oatmeal with fresh fruit was standout. Walnut whole wheat toast went well... More
