Wow...talk about "atmosphere"...this place has it in Spades!!! Great outdoor and indoor seating as you travel up 33closer to the mountains. Live music nightly (since close to LA surprisingly good talent comes in...let alone Local musicians;) and on Saturday evenings has a partying DJ vibe so you can cut loose and dance as the night continues!!! I had some good... More

Stopped here for our anniversary dinner, even though we were a little nervous after seeing some mixed reviews. We intended to just stop in for a cocktail and enjoy the atmosphere but ended up staying for dinner. The atmosphere is wonderful. Very warm and cozy. We sat outside and it was lovely. The food was good, we had cocktail and... More

We were staying at the hummingbird Inn and had a $15 coupon to use at this place. it is an interesting place. Very rustic so be prepared. We had great service by Nate. He explained all the micro brews they had and suggested the IPA which was fantastic. All we wanted was something that we could share with 4 people... More

The reason I am giving them a poor rather than a terrible is because the food was just alright... The service was horrible, my son and I have both worked in the hospitality business for many years the server never came back and checked on us our drinks were wrong our salad was not right and we had to get... Grit: strength of character, toughness, fortitude, hardiness, perseverance, endurance - all this defines this place. My vegan dinner was good. I ordered the grilled lentil walnut loaf and was thrilled with its taste and texture, another at our table had the bison burger without the bun and some extras and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place seems very flexible with what... More

The many mixed reviews are pretty accurate. While there are some interesting items on the menu including while game sausage, beef ribs, mac n' cheese 3 ways, the food is pretty hit and miss. Large portions don't make up for dishes that are not hot enough or served poorly. Service is spotty. One time is enough for me, I'll try... More

Ok, so this little "Pride of Ojai" was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had in my 59 years! My husband and I just moved into the Ojai Valley and were very excited to visit the "infamous" Deer Lodge...it has a great reputation for farm-to-table food touting a warm and cozy country atmosphere. We arrived on a Saturday... More

We have been there twice. Once before the change of owners and once after. First visit was fine. Serve was good and food was good. The second visit was disappointing. Walked in and no one was there to greet us so we asked the bartender where we should sit and his reply was "do you have a reservation?". Keeping in... More

We got a $15 off coupon at the Deer Lodge per night from The Capri Hotel. We sat at the bar and Kara was our bartender. My boyfriend had the Bloody Mary since it comes with a huge slice of bacon, onion rings, yum, and chicken tenders, very dry. As we were sitting there we recognized Brad who was our... More

I've never given a restaurant a one star before but I can't give less. We went for a Friday night dinner as recommended by the Hummingbird Inn (I think they are affiliated) and really liked the ambiance. Our server was nice (only thing good) and I ordered a Zinfandel. He brought a white Zin which isn't what I ordered. So... More
