We enjoyed a beautiful view of the mountains at a little picnic table on the patio. The spinach lasagne was good, as was the garlic bread, but the chocolate gelato was outstanding!

boccalis is by far the best Italian food in California... heck, in the world! I had the pepperoni olive pizza, even though it is not on the menu, the heartwarming waiting staff served it to me without a problem! no scoffing or rude remarks like I've seen in the past at different restraunts. the restraunt is very clean and sanitary!... Every Ojai visit includes a mandatory Boccali's visit -- especially when the tomatoes are in from the garden! (Summer…July/Aug/Sept.) Wonderful pizza, some great Boccali-vintage table wines, easy fun atmosphere (Eat outside at the picnic tables if you can when the weather's good!) And mandatory that you MUST order at least 1 strawberry shortcake for the table. Yum. But don't forget:... More

First time here, brought by friends. Both indoor and outside seating (with a wonderful, late afternoon view of a vineyard.) Had the Eggplant Lasagna, delicious! The pesto ravioli, which my wife had was the same. They have their own label of wines, and we were impressed by the Cabernet. BUT - the top billing goes to their Strawberry Shortcake. I've... More

Excellent food cooked like it was at home. The staff were friendly. Lots of room to eat outside. And one strawberry short cake was just about too much dessert for four of us.

12months of the year is the perfect time to eat here. Outdoor when the weather is nice (huge lawn area for big groups). Inside is cozy for cold days. You won't have a bad meal, no matter what you order. Save room for the strawberry shortcake! Locally owned and they use locally grown produce. This is where Ojai residents eat... More

The tomatoe basil pizza was so good! Such a great atmosphere, we sat outside and watched the sun go down. The strawberry shortcake is to die for!

Set at the base of some hills, on the outskirts of mystical Ojai, this place is a good choice for some hearty pizza. We ate bruschetta, a sausage, garlic, mushroom, green chile (huge slabs of green chile covered the entire pizza) pizza, and a delectable shortcake with tons of fresh red strawberries. Service was attentive, but not intrusive or overbearing.... More

You just don't find this ambiance anymore anywhere. Indoor-outdoor, picnic tables, estate wines, down-home-made Italian food, families with kids everywhere, happy helpful staff, positioned almost in the fields where the food and drink and produced. This humble, family-run Italian restaurant reminded me of old-fashioned family-style Italian meals from my childhood in an Italian neighborhood. Portions are huge and they do... More
