My wife and I felt like we were in a Mexican village, not Ojai. Excellent green pork tamales. Had the distinct feeling we were the only non-locals there--always a good sign.

We all had a craving for some Mexican food and read this was good. The previous reviewers got it right - NO atmosphere, but the food and the service were wonderful. You order at a counter and they bring your food out to you. Very friendly staff, and the food really was great! It's super reasonable too! If you crave... More

Small unassuming Mexican restaurant located in a strip mall. Order at the counter. Good inexpensive food and very filling. Large variety of options. Subtle flavors come through nicely. Seems to be a very popular place with the locals.

I have visited most of the restaurants in Ojai as my daughter is a boarding student there for the last 2 years, and I have not been impressed eating in the Mexican restaurants. I grew up in Arizona, and I love authentic Mexican food. Well, that all changed on my last visit...my daughter introduced me to this inexpensive authentic Mexican... More

Wow, who ever heard off six different kinds of tamales? Well, they have them here. Don't hesitate to try one or two, or maybe more. We stopped here on the Tasting Ojai tour, and got to try all six kinds and they were all delicious. We would love to come back another time and eat here again. The restaurant recently... More

Enter forcounter service, very affordable for the quality and portions. Seating offered in or out. Limited tables outside while inside a large open room with a blaring TV. Diverse salsas peppers were @ a seasoning bar for personal options

Thankfully the guy at the nearby coffee shop recommended this hole-in-the-wall, actually at the rear of a small parking lot, place for us to order some food and to sit at the outdoor tables. We ordered chicken tacos and chicken tamales. They were delicious and the perfect food after having bicycled from Ventura to Ojai and still had to bike... More

Hidden in the back corner of a strip mall, you will find some of the best tamales of Ventura County. My favorite is the green chile cheese, with light masa and plenty of filling. I get their tamales and hot sauce to go since there are only a couple of tables out front in the parking lot. Grab napkins and a... More
