A cafe-market-bakery-salad bar serving Mexican food using organic chiles, tomatoes and tomatillos grown at the farm. The tortillas are handmade and the sangria is topped with local Ojai citrus. Quite a few vegan, raw and gluten-free offerings; everything else is vegetarian. Lovely outdoor patio with a striped green awning and a view of the mountains.

Good homecooking

We had a delicious and very reasonably priced meal: wonderful corn soup and veggie enchilada with pumpkin seed sauce.

Some of the best food in Ojai, I highly recommend the taquitos, the veggie burgers, and the smoothies.

Family-run, farm-to-table, local hip restaurant and grocery store. There is a special atmosphere in the place, driven by the organic offerings. I prefer to order their cooked food, just because I'm never sure how long the fresh salads have been sitting around at that salad bar counter. Their Wednesday night walnut loaf special is my favorite! Dogs are welcome outdoors.... More

Stopped by this funky, hippy, organic restaurant on our way out of town for a quick breakfast. No crowd on a Monday but they must do a huge business all day and there is tons of seating inside and out. Mexican is their menu during the day, but just a stop for a fresh smoothie is worth the drive.

I've often come here to refuel after the hikes and perhaps buy a veggie or two. Sometimes we'd have dinner with friends. The service has always been perfunctory and excruciatingly slow but in good company one tends to take this in stride. Today, however, they broke the proverbial camel's back. When I came for the veggie burger the waitress directed... More

It was an amazing special event dinner that blew away dinners I've had that cost three times as much. On weekends it is the most original cooking you will find. The produce is very fresh and seasonal. It's vegetarian but you won't miss the meat. Casual atmosphere with a happy disorganized that makes you think of Big Sur. It's the... More

The food is really good, not amazing just good. The service is really terrible. At least the one time we were there for dinner. This place could do so much better. I understand why it's crowded, the food is fresh. It was recommended to us from our bed and breakfast host. I said I wanted vegetarian knowing that Ojai might... More

First, the food at Farmer & Cook is quite good. But our group of 9 was left waiting with no food for nearly an hour. (No, wait - they brought us a single plate of bread in apology for the long delay.) The explanation? "We received a lot of takeout orders." Hmmm . . . we reserved the day before... More

Famous for their Huevos Rancheros, Farmer and Cook's did not disappoint here. The breakfast burrito however, was inedible...too many vegetables and eggs. I was disappointed that while the restaurant served smoothies with every imaginable kind of fruit, you could not order fruit!!! At a breakfast place!!!! Really? It's unAmerican!!!. It was a lovely December day and we sat outside. Scenery... More
