I was told by a colleague to try this place and I found the place to be So-so at best. I would think you could find a lot better places for the same price. I don't use Outback Steakhouse, but that would be an upgrade from this place. I had the NY Steak and the steak was cooked OK at... More

This was really our first time here, and were looking forward to a great streak house experience. The menu is small, which i always see as a good sign, because that means they can concentrate on a few things and do them very well. WELL- lets just see. first the good news we went on a Monday night, and were... More

Annually I have to select a restaurant in North San Diego County for our Company Christmas Party. Over the years, Hunter Steakhouse has been one of the most popular places for the party. This year we took 44 employees there for a wonderful evening of fine food and fellowship. As always, the food was excellent and the wait staff was... More

Very disappointed. Prime rib is the only thing they do well and even that's not the best. Skip this one.

Read other reviews, did not deter me. Restaurant crowded on a wednesday night, all ages. My filet was delicious and so tender. My hubby had king crab legs, so msnyand melted butter served with it. We had stuffed mushroomd, bread, salad prepared tableside. No room for desert, but server brought small piece of chocolate cake with candle. We both had... More

The restaurant boasts prime ribs. They shouldn't. It wasn't prime nor did it taste like choice. The room was dark and almost empty at 8PM on a Sunday night. The space seemed used up. I got the feeling the place was on its last legs.

A group of our senior softball players and wives convened a Friday afternoon Happy Hour in the downstairs bar at Hunter's. It did take a while to get the only apparent waitress in the bar to take our drink order, but once taken, it arrived promptly. We chatted and solved most of the world's problems before placing our early Happy... More

The waitress was very impersonable. The selection of beers was terrible. No craft brews. The table-side salad was interesting but still not very good. We were quoted that the prime rib was the best. Not even close. Tough chewy and nasty. Horseradish sauce was overpowering.

Order the small filet which was a generous helping came with a side dish and salad. Salad was fresh with a nice assortment of toppings. For desert ordered the red cake- very rich, worth the extra calories.

We live nearby the Hunter. It's been there for over 40 years and is in the old, dark style of steak/chop house. Too bad it wasn't built to take advantage of the amazing views of the lagoon and ocean. Anyway, the menu is broad enough to suit most tastes, from vegan to heavy meat. The entrees are priced well, and... More
