We just enjoyed another great meal at the Union Hotel this afternoon and I was so impressed by the food, service and outdoor patio dining area, I felt compelled to write an updated review. We ordered the famous "family style" roasted chicken dinner and there was so much food we brought half our meals home. The meal starts with delicious... More

A friend who lives in the area took me here for dinner. Just walking in the door you begin to salivate. The aromas coming from the kitchen are wonderful. I had the ravioli dish. I had never had ravioli that good before in my life. The bread was fresh, warm, and tasty. Can’t find bread like that in my home... More

We were gifted a free appetizer at the Union Hotel by a local business and decided to give it a try for lunch. What a pleasant surprise! Wonderful attentive (but not too much so) waitstaff. Great homestyle Italian food. Generous portions and a wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

We had our wedding at The Grove and reception in the Bocce Ballroom this past weekend. The entire event was flawless! The food was delicious, the staff was gracious and attentive, and the atmosphere was festive and fun. Everyone has complimented us on the venue selection and told us what a wonderful time they had. Thanks to Barbara and the... More

This restaurant makes you feel like you are having a real Italian family dinner. It is very open and the décor is very simple, yet welcoming. My husband and I were celebrating a weekend away and were told to have dinner at this restaurant. His mother had dinner here 40 years ago and it was still on her mind. Everything... More

We have been coming to this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed! Love the homey atmosphere as well as the minestrone soup, bruschetta, bread, chicken cacciatore, plus more. The service is outstanding. Better go hungry. We are already planning our next trip there.

Stopped here after ziplining with Sonoma Canopy Tours - we received a voucher for a free bruschetta. It was worth the stop. Very fresh food, all home made. The bruschetta was great. Soup of the day was minestrone - normally I find it rather bitter - this was delicious. Certainly not over-posh dining, but recommended.

A party of 6, a bit too chilly for the patio regrettably, it's very pretty. the hostess seated us in the banquet hall, gave us more space and allowed us to visit easier. We were the only ones in the space but were attended to right away. Brought our own wine, they eagerly corked it for us, free I believe.... More

My sister and I have fond memories of Occidental from our childhood. So we decided to make a day of it and took a road trip to visit our old haunts… a day at the beach then ending up at the Union Hotel in Occidental. We sat in the courtyard enjoying a glass of wine and brochette, the best I... More

Nothing fancy but a good meal! A scenic little town, a nice stop for a bite to eat. A good place for families.
