Good beer, great tacos! This is a cute place, with character, friendly service, and in the lovely town of Occidental. My husband and I like to come here on our way home from the coast - he loves the beer selection and I like the tacos!

Not your typical burger and brew place. Yes they do have both, but it you cannot find your brews on tap, they have a nice bottle library to choose from. They have one of my favorites, Gulden Draak all the time in bottles. You can also purchase more elaborate eats and desserts as well--like Chamay pretzel chicken.

Fun place to dine in downtown Occidental. Service was very good as was the food. We have been vacationing in Occidental for over 20 years and hope Barley and Hops will be there when we return!

Hilarious waitress, fantastic beer menu and mac n cheese that I am still dreaming about (translation: bacon). I want to move here.

Needed a lite dinner to tide us over to breakfast after arriving from UK earlier in the afternoon. This local tavern hit the spot, with salads and some great beers.

We ate here one time while staying for a few days in Occidental. It is a 2-story Victorian style house with a small bar and small dining room for casual dining. They do have a variety of craft beers to choose from. My sister and I shared the French dip and neither one of us cared for it. The sandwich... More

Great beer selection and delicious burgers. This is a couple steps up from the college scene and well worth the trip.

This is a neighborhood bar. And, I prefer to hang with the locals vs the tourists...but I don't like to feel like an intruder. The bartender was friendly enough. I tried the hard cider, which was good. The wine on tap was a good price for the half carafe but not very tasty. The French onion soup was too peppery... More

Barley and Hops Tavern is located in the hamlet of Occidental on the Bohemian Highway in Sonoma County, CA, about 15 miles west of Santa Rosa. It is a converted old two-story Victorian house with a bar and small dining room, rustic in character and a bit cramped, though not uncomfortable. It is open daily for dinner and for lunch... More
