This is a neighborhood bar. And, I prefer to hang with the locals vs the tourists...but I don't like to feel like an intruder. The bartender was friendly enough. I tried the hard cider, which was good. The wine on tap was a good price for the half carafe but not very tasty. The French onion soup was too peppery... More

Barley and Hops Tavern is located in the hamlet of Occidental on the Bohemian Highway in Sonoma County, CA, about 15 miles west of Santa Rosa. It is a converted old two-story Victorian house with a bar and small dining room, rustic in character and a bit cramped, though not uncomfortable. It is open daily for dinner and for lunch... More

Can't fault this place. Great range of craft beers and food. Staff really friendly and enthusiastic with good food and beverage knowledge. We only went for a beer but ended up eating as the atmosphere and menu were great. Good value too.

!! This place is charming and friendly. The food is organic and delicious !! We loved the soups, and the sandwiches were great. If you're traveling through Sonoma and have time to stop in for lunch, don't miss Barley and Hops Tavern.

After ziplining in the Redwoods, a drink was well deserved. Barley Hops and Tavern hit the spot with a vast beer menu and plenty to offer on their food menu. I enjoyed my seasonal cider and pumpkin microbrew and the Elbows & Cheese (macaroni & cheese) were hearty. The pasta was bland but rich and I had to salt just... More

No this isnt a Bud or Coors kind of place. Beers that you may never have seen before but where good. I had the Spinach & Goat Cheese Salad which was great! Its an old house so dont expect the standard restaurant layout. Server was very cool!

We love trying new beers, but one thing that is always challenging - not knowing enough about the style upfront. This bar has the best menu ever, rating each beer by hopiness, sweetness and color, with a good description of each one. They have literally something for everyone, including some ciders and fruit beers. The vibe is funky and you... More

Great selection of draft beers which is constantly changing. Really great burgers and wings, but there are also some delicious entrees like pretzel chicken, seared tuna and black bean cakes with pico de gallo. Definitely worth stopping if you are in the area. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable.

We love coming here on a regular basis. Great beer choices. Great service (we are usually seated at the bar). Cool live music. Food is good and they have some interesting choices that are not typical bar food options.

I live in town and this is our regular eatery. Good food, good beer, and a varied special menu that changes weekly. Only wish we could sit at the bar more often.
