Local, and always from-scratch, our pub grub is the best in the area. Everything is below 15 dollars, and hand-made; from pub classics to eclectic favorites. We focus on cooking with craft beer, and serve 13 drafts, and 60+ bottles from local and worldwide craft breweries. A small selection of local wines by-the-glass and hand-crafted local ciders are also available. Live music on the weekends!

Beer & burger joint

Can't miss the mustard yellow house as your driving through occidental, Ca. The place sounds like just a beer bar but you should really try the burgers. They're not your ordinary fast food chain burgers. Also, if you like crispy fries you'll really enjoy these.

Stopped in here for a beer and stayed a while. Excellent service with Tish. Lots of beers. Wish we had time to eat. I would come again.

Waitress was very attentive without being bothersome and gave good beer and food suggestions. It was a very nice place to stop for a late dinner after a day of travelling. Very comfortable atmosphere.

Third visit and have enjoyed every single one! You can't just think of this place as a pub. Although they rotate through the most amazing artisanal beers on tap, the food is like "wait a minute, I thought you were a pub?!" Every employee here feels like an old friend. One of the reasons I look forward to visiting Occidental!

I love good beer and I love good burgers. Not crappy burgers from tortured cows, but good meat from happier cows. They use Niman Ranch meat which is just about the best meat out there for humane agriculture. Did I mention that they have very good beer options as well. They even brew some of their own stuff. It is... More

Good grub and live music augment an excellent beer selection. This is one of several restaurants in this very small community. If you want casual, there is absolutely no dress code at this establishment.

Good beer, great tacos! This is a cute place, with character, friendly service, and in the lovely town of Occidental. My husband and I like to come here on our way home from the coast - he loves the beer selection and I like the tacos!

Not your typical burger and brew place. Yes they do have both, but it you cannot find your brews on tap, they have a nice bottle library to choose from. They have one of my favorites, Gulden Draak all the time in bottles. You can also purchase more elaborate eats and desserts as well--like Chamay pretzel chicken.

Fun place to dine in downtown Occidental. Service was very good as was the food. We have been vacationing in Occidental for over 20 years and hope Barley and Hops will be there when we return!

Hilarious waitress, fantastic beer menu and mac n cheese that I am still dreaming about (translation: bacon). I want to move here.
