Best chicken sandwich and that slaw is to die for!

The menu is tiny, but focused on what they do best: crispy chicken sandwich. It comes with slaw which I recommend: they use a vinegar base and include finely diced jalapeños. Spicy, but not too much. They also offer a fried tofu version and my veggie daughter loved it. Baked goods are always... read more

First of all, fried chicken sandwiches. Tender, crunchy, spicy, served on delicious buns and coleslaw. Secondly, friendly, efficient service. Thirdly, the sidewalk tables are old metal ironing boards, which is adorable. And lastly, fried chicken sandwiches!!!

Delicious pies and great fried chicken sandwiches! There is often a long line and it is absolutely with the wait!

Don't believe those bad reviews, the place as just as spectacular as it always was! Yes the sandwiches are a bit smaller, but they were ridiculously huge before and the price did go down. It's all about the coleslaw -- fresh with cilantro, hot peppers, onions, and an irresistible vinegar marinade! I actually skip the bread and do the salad... More

I started going to Bakesale Bettys five years ago on my semi-annual trip to CA from Cape Cod. In the past two years I have noticed a significant decrease in options and portions while charging the same price. I think the original bread for the chicken sandwich is better than the current bun they are using. The molasses cookie no... More

I went here after a several year hiatus and things have changed. Sandwiches not as good, and much smaller. Great staff remains.

I am not a fan of sandwiches and do not eat meat. Their tofu sandwich is great once in a while! Nothing more to say. Just try it when you are in the area and need a quick bite. The size is giant and can be shared with another non-giant-meal-eater.

The good: Bakesale Betty has the most delicious fried chicken and coleslaw sandwich you'll find anywhere. The bad: Bakesale Betty used to make a lot of other delicious things but they've dropped just about everything from their menu. (I especially miss the yummy scones. They were the one thing that got me through those 8 am Saturday soccer games when... More

Bakesale Betty used to sell the Best Scones in the East Bay. However, they stopped making them for some unknown reason. The chicken sandwich is pretty good, but not good enough to go there and stand in their long, slow lines.

One trick pony - fried chicken and coleslaw sandwich. How much can one say? crispy - yes. coleslaw- slightly spicy and very fresh. Bun - well above average. That's it. Simple formula, well executed but that's all. They have a long row of ironing boards set up on the sidewalk with stools to sit at. Did I say quirky? It... More
