Great sandwich lunch stop

I am not a fan of sandwiches and do not eat meat. Their tofu sandwich is great once in a while! Nothing more to say. Just try it when you are in the area and need a quick bite. The size is giant and can be shared with another non-giant-meal-eater.

The good: Bakesale Betty has the most delicious fried chicken and coleslaw sandwich you'll find anywhere. The bad: Bakesale Betty used to make a lot of other delicious things but they've dropped just about everything from their menu. (I especially miss the yummy scones. They were the one thing that got me through those 8 am Saturday soccer games when... More

Bakesale Betty used to sell the Best Scones in the East Bay. However, they stopped making them for some unknown reason. The chicken sandwich is pretty good, but not good enough to go there and stand in their long, slow lines.

One trick pony - fried chicken and coleslaw sandwich. How much can one say? crispy - yes. coleslaw- slightly spicy and very fresh. Bun - well above average. That's it. Simple formula, well executed but that's all. They have a long row of ironing boards set up on the sidewalk with stools to sit at. Did I say quirky? It... More

I was getting a fried chicken craving and had to go back the Bakesale Betty's just to see if the sandwich was still the best. I have to say that is exceeded my expectations again. This week was the fried chicken sandwich taste test and I had another earlier in the week from another Oakland restaurant but when I got... More

I went to Betty's a few days before it opened. It was a hit with everyone. How could it not be with fried chicken sandwiches and egg salad sandwiches, some of the best cookies ever, pot pies. It was loved by everyone who went there. It was happy, the staff were funny and very helpful. If there was a long... More

I've always love BB's chicken sandwich. After not visiting for a while, I was excited to be in the area on the right day at the right time to find them open. Sorry to say, it won't be on my mind anymore after today. Sandwich has really lost that something special. Chicken is still good (though portion smaller than I... More

Well it is fried and a bit greasy... this is the best chicken sandwich bar none in the world. Their other food offerings are a bit slim, some baked goods and that is about it, but what they do they do well. Sometimes a bit of a line but seems to move fast given the limited menu. More of a... More

Great fried chicken sandwiches. Almost no indoor seating. Outdoor seating on sidewalk is also somewhat limited.
