I love that Bar Cesar is Mexican now. The atmosphere is still awesome. The service (darling efficient, friendly blonde server) was great. Drinks and chips and smoky salsa ..delicious.... BUT .... number one.. I love simple good Mexican food and I ordered the vegetarian enchilada and my daughter ordered the burrito... THERE IS TOOO MUCH STUFF on these dishes.. TOO... More

We visited Cesar twice. Once for lunch. The other for a late nigh glass of wine and chat. Both experiences were good ones. The waiter easily negotiated my wife gluten-free needs. The tapas weren't large, but not tiny either. The quality of both our lunch, and our drinks, was great. So was the service. Nice Piedmont stop. P.S. You can't... More

Enjoyed a nice early evening tapas meal with my daughter and son-in-law. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The restaurant was crowded and the noise level busy but not overbearing. We all shared plates which included the tasty patata bravas, a nice plate of charcuteria, the gambas diabla, the seasoned ribs, and a very tasty beet salad. We accompanied... More

I was in Oakland recently and took my grandson here for dinner. For the sake of full disclosure, he's only 9 months old! However, it really was perfect. I went at 6 PM which was a good time to be there. There were a few other families there and the place generally was quite busy. With a young baby, this... More

I used to go to the Cesar in Berkeley pretty regularly and loved the place. We'd go sometimes just for dessert and get the port flights or the dessert wine flights, it was always fun. I was closer to this one tonight after dinner and thought we'd try to do the same - and am just embarrassed for the Cesar... More

Cesar on Piedmont offers some great small plates in a relaxed atmosphere. Armed with a great wine selection and delicious Latin-themed food, you can sit and chat and watch busy Piedmont Avenue. Their sangria is also really good, as is their ceviche, patata bravas, and guacamole. The only fly in the ointment is that service can be spotty; they sometimes... More

We ate here for a late lunch/early dinner following a morning walk in Richmond at the Rosie the Riveter NHP (if you haven't been, go!) and a few hours trying on all the clothes at Title Nine. Great time! We had the patatas bravas, the rock cod, and a special Iberico pork loin cut in a wine reduction with mashed... More

The food is good and the interior is well decorated and seems great for a large group. However, both times I've been here, the service has been extremely slow, which has made me very hesitant to go back.

What? Yes, the deep fried olives were a first timer for me too! What a treat! I'd definitely order them next time. My cousin and I recently spent the day shopping on Piedmont Avenue and she suggested Bar Cesar for tapas. We shared deep fried olives, and a great salad then decided on burgers for dinner. The burger was excellent... More
